Dead at 60 years old.
He is like Messi, but actually won the World Cup. He also loves cocaine and stuff.
He had blood clot in his brain few weeks ago and was in critical condition until now.
RIP

With the amount of drugs he was doing, I'm not surprised.

RIP Diego Maradona. Most of the new generation doesn't understand what a damn legend this man was. He did do a lot of drugs but he was a nice man, gave back to the community, loved people. There's a reason people in Argentina adore him and it's not just what he did on the football pitch.

It is more surprising that he somehow lived to 60 though.

I'm more amazed that Kieth Richards is still alive TBH
RIP Diego, I was a kid but I still vaguely remember the 86 World Cup in Mexico where he basically lifted Argentina by himself to the title, the GOAT in my book. Scored two of the greatest world cup gols during the tournament.

always awestruck by how short guys like Diego, Pelé and Messi are and despite this still able to excel on the football pitch
it's not like they were way taller than the people around them
it's not like they had some sort of competitive advantage

The one vs Belgium is just as amazing, even if the run was not as long as the one vs England, Maradona went straight through the middle and took with him a bunch of defenders and finished beautifully

It seems most junkies tend to head in that direction anyway. The particular drug isn't the main issue (imo).

Shorter guys have low center of gravity, making it harder for defenders to take the ball of them. They are suitable as playmaking midfielder/forwards. Skills and athleticism are still needed to excel though.

I don't know much about soccer because I don't watch it very much other than the world cup every few years. I do know of Maradona though. Who the hell doesn't know of him? Guy was an absolute legend & a badass. The Kareem Abdul-Jabbar of soccer, Willie Mays of soccer, Ovechkin of soccer, Peyton Manning of soccer, Sachin Tendulkar of soccer, etc. Not quite Jordan/Babe Ruth/Gretzky/Brady/Bradman GOATs, but still awesome from what I have read of him. He was very charismatic and down to Earth.

Take care of your body folks. Even a supreme athlete like Maradona died at 60. No doubt he was smoking, drinking and doing drugs.

No wonder he's intoxicated af. That's why he has that kind of rubbish opinion and loves to troll a lot of posters in this forum.

Down to earth isn't exactly what I'd call him.
He is in the Jordan tier. Football GOAT is tough to argue, but it's mostly the 4 names of Pele, Maradona, Messi and Ronaldo.

Yep, Maradona is GOAT tier, he's my GOAT (can't compare him to Pelé since Pelé was before my time) but I'll take him over Messi and Ronaldo.

You usually see Pele at #1 on lists. Diego #2. I didn't watch either play because they were both before my time. I have been watching world cup only since 2010

Was he a supreme athlete? He looked like a little midget that could be cutting someone's lawn on the weekend. No doubt he had supreme foot-eye coordination, stamina and his field IQ and instincts were off the charts but when I think of supreme athlete it's usually a football or basketball player. Maybe an MMA, Track&Field or swimming star. Or Cristiano Ronaldo

Something the matter?
I wasn't trying to insult Maradona. Pele is usually seen as the GOAT. Nothing wrong with being the 2nd greatest of all time. Kareem/Peyton/Tendulkar are my favorites in their sports (Well, Kobe was my favorite nba player but Kareem is the most skilled player whom I consider one of my favorites). Not everyone is Jordan/Babe Ruth/Brady/Bradman

Nah as said. Maradona is GOAT tier. There's no consensus in football. The just from the outside looking in starts with Cruijff.
