Is the average NBA player a 5-9, 180 pound, 35 year old?

Is the average NBA player a 5-9, 180 pound, 35 year old?

Nah but Nate has always been a freak of nature and he's not tall or heavy but he's pure muscle. We all know pound for pound he was one of the most athletic players ever, to do some of the stuff he could do at his height was insane. Dude's a tank, not an ounce of fat on that dude even at 35. Not like Jake Paul is a behemoth by any means, and remember he started out as a legit Disney Channel show character, became a Youtuber, then started doing boxing for shits and gigs cause it was the new cool thing for Youtubers to do to make bank on the side. Not like he's a real pro boxer who trained for it his whole life and had the natural talent since childhood.

I'm not saying that great NBA athletes prime athleticism can't transfer between sports, but lets be real boxing is a different beast. You can be the most athletic person in the world, doesn't necessarily mean you can box that great, especially against someone who had way more training and experience than you. There's way more that goes into it than just athleticism. You gotta be able to take hits, and box smart. It takes experience and technique, also the ability to take hits getting punched hard af but keep on going, among so many other things.

Besides, if I remember correctly Nate Robinson was the one who started this beef talking shit like he was gonna knock Jake Paul out. So it's obvious he thought he was gonna do something, he even said he wanted to prove to everyone he's one of the greatest athletes ever. How you gonna say those words and get put to sleep face first on the mat by a Disney Channel sitcom character.

not only that, he's like twice nate's size and honestly looks like a good athlete. this isn't some cookout brawl, the white guy clearly new how to box.

Deontay Wilder has the physique of an Nba player, yet he still got schooled by beer gut Tyson Fury except for a few lucky punches...

To quote Teddy Atlas: "Boxing is 75 percent mental and 25 percent physical"

Only casual boxing fans ever believe athleticism is a big deal in boxing. Technique comes 1st 2nd and 3rd in boxing. Especially citing no experience whatsoever in nate....recipe for disaster. He was clearly below amateur level. Now....if you have elite physical traits paired with actual ability then you get Roy Jones jr. or a Deontay Wilder

So you just conveniently going to leave out that Tyson Fury is 6-9, 270 pound world champ?

What? Wilder is constantly clowned on for not having developed certain skills and relying a lot on his god given KO power. Hence why Tyson embarassed him twice with skill.

The best boxers usually have some of the best sparring partners. It felt like nate did cardio and speed bag..didnt look like he did heavy sparring.

Sprinters. They don't have the athleticism for long distance running. They're polar opposite body types and the NFL is clearly about short burst explosiveness. There's a reason they do a 40 yard dash and not a 4000 yard dash.

It would be okay if he only embarrassed himself, but he embarrassed the entire league. And you're kidding yourself if you think it's only the modern league.

Everything's race with him. White guy beats a black guy and he's out in full force.

If you run, stop after a few seconds, take a break and then run again. You aren't distance running. You're sprinting. You're doing intervals.

You run a lot more in football than basketball

depends on the position. WR's might... D-Line, O-line, LB's, QB's no way.

But now that I think about it nah... even WR's don't run as much because they only play half the game while NBA players have to run full time offense and defense.

MaxPlayer
11-30-2020, 04:05 PM
NFL athletes are more specialized since position distinctions are so much greater than in the NBA. For the most part, twitch and bulk tend to be prioritized over endurance, at least relative to other sports like basketball.

There's also a soft height floor to play pro basketball, so many great athletes are eliminated from the get-go because they literally don't measure up. Football also features some extreme physiques, but they tend to be more attainable.
