For me, it was Brendan Haywood. He just seemed like one of the big centers that would rebound and block shots because he was big. I later learned that in one practice the Wizard coaches were so tired of the team they left and Haywood would take over and teach them the defense scheme. I also heard good things about his analytics.

I guess Rasheed Wallace can come off as dumb because his antics? But he's actually a very smart player.

This was going to be my answer. I originally had him pegged as a punk, but hearing him speak over the years he's actually a very thoughtful guy. Also reinvented his game by becoming a shooting threat.

Javale McGee. Shaqtin a fool really brainwashed a lot of people into thinking he had the intelligence of a chimp. But I recently been following his vlog on his years with the lakers, and he’s a very thoughtful and cool guy.
