The reason is because they didn’t even finish the regular season. So basically the playoffs was just a Disney World tournament. It wasn’t part of the real season. Not all players were even there. They invited a certain amount of teams. Technically they didn’t even have to invite teams that were in the top 8. It was invitation based. There were no home games.
The Lakers won a nice, little tournament and deserve credit. They should get a trophy, I’m serious. But there was no real NBA championship that I saw. It wasn’t real. It was a scrimmage. The ratings and all suggest nobody watched. Plus it was during the pandemic.
It was a tournament but results would have been different if the season hadn’t been interrupted. You don’t just start up 5 months later.
