View Full Version : Wil this year be Lebron's first "real" regular season decline?

I think it might be considering the crazy year this past season and the super short off-season. I think Lebron might use the whole first half of the season to get in shape, take some games off, and play career low minutes.
While I still expect him to be arguably the best player in the playoffs (he was this past year), I could see him put up a 23/7/7 type regular season and basically look to stay healthy.

Did you see how irritated he was about the MVP voting just a few months ago? He's not anywhere near done with chasing those types of things. So I think the answer is a solid no.

No. He's not gonna decline unless he has a significant injury. (2015 Back, 2019 Groin and those were eventually fixed) At worst he'll have a regular season dip and then right back at it in the playoffs

I'm not even saying he'll necessarily decline this season, but he's 36 and going into his 18th season, the guy HAS to decline at some point, could finally be this year for all we know

I think he has at least 1 more MVP level season in him before he starts to really decline
Malone didn't start declining till he was 37-38

We have been asking this at the start of every season for about 6 years now and he hasn’t really slowed down. Sure he might have nights where he’s not as explosive, but dropping triple doubles frequently and 2020 finals mvp says otherwise.
I will say though for the first time there might be a canary in the mine shaft. The fact that he signed an extension out of nowhere might signal that LeBron is finally aware of his basketball mortality. A decline may not happen this season, or next or even the one after that. But only Person who knows how long LeBron can go is LeBron himself and he seems to have planned that this will be his last big contract of his career

Hard to say dude is a machine. Only way i see him significantly declining is if he gets injured.

What's insane is this has been a topic going into a season for almost a decade now. As always, we'll see....
