These players are locked in in their primes and healthy. You fill out the roster with free agents you choose from whoever happens to be out there. You don’t know for sure who you could add but these 5-6 guys have a roster spot going into 20-21 replacing say....the current Hornets in the East. Some teams way deeper. Some insane at the top(which may matter more traditionally). Some have shooting. Or size. Whatever. I just want the first team you would take and your last. Best and worst. Feel free to rank them all but I’m not asking for all that work....

79 East
Isiah Thomas
John Paxon
Dominique Wilkins
James Worthy
Ralph Sampson

96 East

Ed Cota
Kobe
Stephen Jackson
Tim Thomas
Jermaine Oneal
Rip Hamilton

81 East

Michael Jordan
Chris Mullin
Patrick Ewing
Bill Wennington
Ed Pinckney

03 East

Chris Paul
Lebron
Luol Deng
Travis Outlaw
Brandon Bass
Charlie Villanueva

07 West

Derrick Rose
Eric Gordon
James Harden
Michael Beasley
Blake Griffin
Kevin Love

Im really not sure who to go with but I’m strongly considering 81. Not because of Jordan(though...yea) but because I think Mullin would be a lot better than you do in 2020. And I could round up some vet role players I’m sure. Some shooting and tough guys.

I don’t know if anyone agrees but....MJ/Mullin/Ewing is probably too much for me to pass up. Not so deep but....only 5 can play at once anyway. I’d find a way to protect Mullin on D enough for his offense to more than make up for it. On offense we would have a more savvy in between game having Klay Thompson plus passing. With Jordan to guard any wing star and Ewing behind him I think his D wouldnt hurt enough to kill us. You don’t have to go 8 deep if your top 3 can’t be stopped. We have seen that many times before.

Its just the team id most want to watch work plus pretty wild competitiveness. That said....I could also see one or two of you putting them last so....whatever.

79 East

'81 easily, Jordan/Ewing/Mullin is by far the most talented trio, and they'd actually mesh well together unlike a lot of the other teams listed

79 East

Be the most fun to watch at least. Imagine trying to run with a team where this 7’4”(ish) guy who moves like this is their 4 the best transition threat:

And how many of these would Isiah throw to Nique and Worthy?

79 East and it's not close.
McDonald's All American games are about scoring and running.

Thomas on the break with Nique and Big Games James running the wings.
Sampson in the middle and Paxson for some shooting.

In their primes. Some of those guys took years to bring it together.

yea you cant beat MJ, Mullin, & Ewing. Pat Ewing used to be one of MJ's toughest adversaries, and now he gets to play with him? AND Chris Mullin the perfect spacing and shooting 3rd option? They'd be betting favorites in the negative. -200 odds warriors style.

2007 team is the worst. Surrounding Harden with Blake and Rose is a recipe for disaster. Two guys who cant shoot a lick.

Although I will admit a James Harden Blake Griffin (circa 2012) PnR would be unbelievably entertaining basketball.

Why them over 79? Too much fire power.

I mean... peak MJ is way better than Isiah Thomas. Pat Ewing is easily better than nique by every metric. And Chris Mullin is a perfect 3rd option. Forget offense though... '81 East blows '79 out of the water defensively. You've got one of the greatest rim protectors ever paired with one of the greatest defensive guards ever.

and if they're playing in this league I think you have to account for 3pt shooting ability. Out of all the old guys, Chris Mullin would probably adapt the best to that in today's game. A guy like james worthy has a game that's antique'ed for a third option.

Bill and Ed are are the two worst players on the court.
And Pat can't protect the entire rim. Ralph, Nique or James one of them will beat their man.

I'll take Thomas, Sampson, Worthy and Wilkins over MJ, Pat and Mullin.

And I just peeped the entire 79 roster. Much deeper than 81.
Clark Kellogg, Scott, Antoine Carr, Quentin Dailey, Sidney Green.

Yeah, give me them over 81.

I almost included Dailey but I figured nobody else would value him like I would. He was my first favorite player.

James had a little more variety than people see in highlights:

Part of a 40 point finals game without Magic to set him up(17/26....near his career high in shots which was only 28).

He’d adjust nicely to being a face up 4 these days. And he’d be able to switch pretty well. James would still be a star I’d say.

James could shoot, post up, had the quickest first step.
He'd be hard to stop today.
