Just received a box from my uncle in California of a dozen California grown Cherimoyas. I just ate one right now. Insanely delicious. I've had them before but I forgot how good they are! I know they weren't cheap but he wouldn't tell him how much they cost.

I've had mangosteen from Thailand. Top tier mangos from Florida. Sapodilla and Mamey Sapote from South America. All very delicious but nothing rivals Cherimoya. I've yet to try White Sapote and Soursop(guanabana), I hear those are awesome too.

It's like scooping out custard with seeds that has a slightly citrus or pineapple acidity to it. 1 down 11 to go

They're too much work man. Those seeds are so damn frustrating. I always likened them more to banana than citrus.... might be because of the color and they're mushy like old bananas though :lol

Americans miss out on some good fruit because we don't like to deal with more than a couple of seeds. Cherimoya, soursop, sapodilla, mangosteen, guava etc. These Cherimoyas I got are super juicy. More like an avocado with a slightly grainy texture. Other than having to spit out a few seeds the flavor and texture is simply unmatchable. Maybe if I had an avocado or a good banana for the first time, I'd say the same thing though. The bananas I've had with seeds are 10x better than the seedless bananas you get in the store however.

I learned an 1800 dollar lesson biting down on something i wasn't expecting to be hard in the center. :facepalm

I think the main reason I'm just not in love with them though is a prefer to eat avocados and bananas just before they're ripe when they still have just a little bit of bite to it. cherimoya has both the sweetness and texture of overripe bananas

Maybe you had bad one. Cherimoyas are super sweet but complex with citrus or pineapple overtones. A ripe banana is just sweet. The reason I compare its texture to avocado is because of the fat content, although I can see the banana comparison. Cherimoyas have the highest fat content next to the avocado of commonly eaten fruits I believe. It even has more fat than durian and about 4x that of banana. Avocados have 5x more fat than bananas.

The one I chomped on earlier
