Why does this clown have to make everything so difficult? It'd be one thing if he was a superstar, but he's not. Couple that with the fact that he's always injured and I wonder how teams can think this pos is worth all the trouble.

Count off in your head the guards who can finish the way he can.....shoot like he can from outside off the dribble, spotting up, or midrange....who can also handle the ball like him.
Give me your list. Handles, total shooting, and finishing...all at or beyond Kyries level in one human. Ever.
Who are they?

You have to actually make it onto the court for any of that to matter. Kytie is also clearly a number 2 on a team with the ego of a number 1.

Bingo. I’d say Chris Paul does all of that

Chris Paul who was traded to the Thunder and now the Suns and has been the consummate professional? Kyrie could learn something from him.

Kyrie would be the #1 option on like 80% of teams to ever play in the nba. Probably more than that. I don’t know where people get this warped idea of what a first option is when they spend their entire lives watching guys who struggle with 20ppg be first options. What league have you been watching to conclude Kyrie is “clearly” a number 2 when no less than 15 teams have a first option who isn’t his equal scoring wise?

Steven A had a rant on the subject I was entirely prepared to disagree with but he made a lot of great points. I’ll see if I can find it.

I'm talking more about impact than scoring option in that you can't win a championship with Kyrie as your best and most impactful player. He was in the perfect situation playing next to LeBron, but the knucklehead's ego got the best of him. All he was asked to do was basically what he does best and what he primarily just wants to do...score. Not to mention there was no pressure as that all fell on LeBron's shoulders.

I'm pretty sure it's part of a player's contract to have to talk to the media

Thats always been a crazy standard to me. How many people have been the best player on a title team in modern times? 40 years you have like 15-16 guys and something like 9 of them played together.
Only generational players are first options?
I know people say title or bust but....really...that has nothing to do with what a first option is.

Lot of good that did for the Celtics. We saw Kyrie as a #1 option on the Cavs before Lebron. He's a much better #2. For one thing, he's not a team leader. For another, he's injury prone. Then you never know when he's going to say something weird and become this big media thing, and he goes into his shell.
Lebron was able to keep the spotlight off Kyrie. Until Kyrie got tired of Lebron getting too much credit, I guess. Thing is Lebron has a massive impact on team's win columns, unlike Kyrie.

Saying a player of this caliber is a better number two because of team results doesn’t make much sense to me for one big reason....
The only players in history good enough to relegate a player of Kyries ability to a #2 role are so great that merely teaming the two up makes it likely you have a super team or at least a team of incredible top end talent.
List the players Kyrie would be second to. All of them are first ballot hall of fame and the only two he’s been on a team with are Lebron and now Durant who are both top 5-15 all time talents.
You’re basically saying teams with insane duos are better than teams led by a single star when you talk about Kyrie alone vs Kyrie as a number 2.
You could do that for damn near everyone. What great players team shouldn’t be better when you put a better player than him on it with him?
Thats no way to evaluate anyone. It’s just stating the obvious. It’s like saying Nique should have been a second option because the Hawks never did anything with him. Well when you consider that to make Nique a #2 in the 80s you need Bird, Magic, Kareem, Jordan or someone like that you kinda make it unfair to compare what they might do combined to what he did alone.
Yea....putting an all time elite guy over a more normal level hall of famer results in a better team than the hall of famer not having the elite guy to play with.
Is that an indictment?

Everyone that ever played with Kyrie understands this:

LeBron dealt with his craziness.
Boston fans drove him to the airport.
Now nets players have to go through it.
Meanwhile in Lakerland the lovefest is blooming like spring flowers:
