That’s an important discussion and I’m glad we’re having it but let me raise another important issue while I’ve got you here.
Was Michael Jordan man enough to have a long healthy career in this era?
We all know he was tough in his time. Didn’t take nights off. Major props due. But his style really put him in danger at times which was mitigated by the inferior athletes he had around him.
Mike was quick first and foremost. Able to cleverly avoid defenders both on the ground and in the air...but when he couldn’t? His thin 80s frame built on wheaties and casino breakfast buffets after a night losing money didn’t have the girth to withstand punishment.
This is evident when he would collide with some of the more sturdy bigs of his day. Unlike the more more formidable Lebron who powers through the likes of 7 foot 290 Nurkic like a scarecrow Mike was often destroyed by a meaty human in his path:
https://thumbs.gfycat.com/CoordinatedSnoopyAfricanwildcat-size_restricted.gif
Cadillac Williams wasn’t nearly the size of Nurkic and that impact nearly ended Jordan’s life on the spot.
Similarly reputed “Bash brother” Jeff Ruland with his body of gently dolloped cool whip nearly brought Jordan’s story to a premature conclusion using nothing but the rule of verticality.
https://thumbs.gfycat.com/DangerousVioletCaterpillar-size_restricted.gif
They were large men no doubt. Large husky men fueled by honey buns and domestic beer. Not so much muscular as....farm strong.
But we all know muscle is heavier than fat so a muscular quick athlete could easily exert more force in opposition than a slower flabby big. Which brings me to the question.....
What happens when Jordan is slamming into Deandre Ayton who is fueled by both PEDs and modern nutrition and not cinnamon rolls and halftime smoke breaks?
Might MJ slither by unharmed? Sure. It was his speciality. Going unharmed through traffic. But you can’t get lucky forever.
When MJ actually ran into an athlete of modern size and strength who knew about nutrition and weight training in Karl Malone? He was left a crumpled mess:
https://thumbs.gfycat.com/ConstantEnviousAnemonecrab-size_restricted.gif
And so shaken by the moment he played the rest of the game on edge before exploding at the ref who failed to give him his customary special treatment and protection:
https://thumbs.gfycat.com/PracticalRightIbizanhound-size_restricted.gif
Headbutts the ref and gets himself tossed cost his team the win with the resulting free throw.
In a world where every forward and center does weight training....eats right...builds muscle....and there are fewer soft cushiony slow bigs....
Would there have even been a Michael Jordan? Might he be a tragic what if story after colliding one too many times with today’s bigs who could match his irresistible force instead of merely being the immovable objects he was used to being in his path? These guys move their feet. Can’t always get around....and it’s harder to go through a brick wall than a butter sculpture like the wide bodied bigs he was used to.
He was well known to avoid contact with the true super humans when possible:
https://thumbs.gfycat.com/CooperativeMeanBushbaby-size_restricted.gif
With so many more around does he have to change his attacking style to avoid the multitude of them in the league now or does he keep slamming his stick figure frame into the lane and getting himself hurt until he becomes a cautionary tale?
Just wondering.

Do you really want me to start posting gifs of Jordan overpowering Shaq, Hakeem, Ewing - you name it
his poster over Woolridge (lebron-build) made Woolridge fall back like James Toney vs Roy Jones... He drop-stepped on Barkley and made Barkley fall down like an NBA Jam game
Magic said "Jordan is the strongest guard, body-wise, to ever play".. but it's fun to see you trolling so keep it up

Jordan didn't retire in 93' because he was hurt and wouldn't have retired if he'd lost
So he played 15 healthy seasons and would've been 17 without baseball (if he'd lost to barkley) and would've been 21 with the same rules that lebron had (allowed to go from McDonald's all-american to pro)..
.jordan did all this with a more physical game and carrying a team more (not resting on defense).
And the rest of your post is that of someone that clearly was never good at basketball on any level and doesn't understand the game

Jordan lost to two 1 star teams.
88 and 89 to Pistons. Detroit had 1 star that year.
Jordan also lost in 1995 with a 3peat chemistry team that Pippen built for Jordan. Jordan had a great 3peat chemistry team and lost in 1995.
Another multiple lie by 3ball exposed.

The point is kblaze855's point is mute because of the rule changes. What good is a bigger body positionwise when you can't touch the offensive player. A regular foul before is a flagrant these days.

What is there to romanticize about?
I'm calling a spade a spade.
You call that weaksauce riding the hip handchecking? Really?
True handchecking literally makes the offensive player turn his back to the defender making drives to the lane more difficult. Thats not true today. Get off your 2020 colored eyeglasses for once.

He didn't respond to the OP and instead posted gifs of defenders trying to hurt MJ
When everyone says the Pistons tried to hurt Jordan, those kinds of comments go in one ear and out the other. But kblaze's pics show it and the shit was real..
Whereas no one tries to hurt lebron because the game is different.. guys don't do that today.. but if they did, and if flagrants were allowed, lebron would occasionally get thrown to the ground too.. today's game is simply much softer than the 90's
Everyone got thrown to the ground back then, regardless of size
Btw, no one quoted kblaze's 2nd essay in my other thread about lebron's brand of ball.. because everyone knows I'm right about that.. this thread OP was just simple facts... Nothing to refute
those kinds of comments go in one ear and out the other

But I was also there in the 90's and the word on the street was that Pippen was aids. Point blank.. period.. all his pretty dunks (emulating Jordan's tomahawk), don't make up for his nightly disappearances down the stretch, to outright chokes..
So the key is that Jordan had to carry that team all the time.. the bulls never got anything more than 22 ppg from Pippen, thus forcing mj to always carry the team... pippen never averaged 27, 29, or 30 like Wade/Kyrie/AD, respectively, and there was no 3rd star

He retired in '98 because he was petty, not because he was dominant. He hated Krause, he hated that Krause was going to fire Phil, so he retired from basketball in retaliation. If they lost in the playoffs that year, Krause would have still fired Phil, and Michael would have still retired out of pettiness.
Winning in '98 was definitely an amazing achievement, and probably the most impressive of his six rings. But it only allowed a narrative of nobility in Michael's retirement that didn't exist. He wanted to run it back no matter what, but just hated his GM that much.

brother 3ball - that argument carries little weight when you factor in that jordan never won a single title without pippen's 55-win team.
how many teams has lebron played on that would win 55-games without him?
meanwhile lebron won without a single other all-star player that year in 2016.
of course jordan never lost to a 1-star team when he was carried by scottie "the trunk" pippen.

Winning in '98 was definitely an amazing achievement, and probably the most impressive of his six rings
Jordan's 92' ring might've been more impressive than 98' because he overcame a better defense, all-star players at every position, and he dominated an all-time great at his position.
Or maybe 93' was the most impressive because pippen had lower PER, ws/48, OBPM, efficiency and pace-adjusted scoring than than 14' Wade, so it was a massive carry-job for MJ (record-setting)
Or his lebron imitation in 1997 (leading 5 categories for the playoffs, except 0.3 rpg behind rodman).. plus 2 game-winners in the Finals and the series-winning assist.. flu game and ultimately winning a Finals with Pippen at 19/8/3 on 42%.
Or the team dominance of 96' and winning the Finals with the sidekick getting 15 on 34%
