seems kind of small for them. They're usually obsessed with length. Good depth piece I guess. Still need a starting 4 though

Pretty sure Bogey is starting at 4 which is solid. Except Lakers may need to have Favors in with Rudy. The way Utah is shooting and much better defense...
I do question bringing Ferrell liking this Forrest dude, very good passer and penetrating

I'd say O'Neale is the 4 but he's too small to start there and Bojan is certainly no 4. They were too small last year with only guards and wings around their centers. Small starting backcourt as well. It's not just the Lakers. Denver beat them when they went big in the playoffs. You have to be versatile and they could only play one way. Now their versatility means losing the spacing around Rudy. Have you seen the horrendous spacing with Favors at the 4 in pre season? The fact that this is the 2nd time they've went back to Favors after seeing how great they are with spacing around their best player is unbelievable! Where's this much better defense coming from other than having Favors at the 4 and ruining the spacing? Morgan looked great in the first game but of course he was out once Conley came back. Forrest is a two way player that can't shoot. At least he can make a layup. Just what they need around Favors and Gobert. Might as well bring back Ricky too!
Not sure what there is to question about another vet at the end of the bench. Another thing they were missing last year and they could use more of. Plenty of young guys that won't play already.

favors is the backup 5 to make sure the defense doesnt completely fall off without rudy. utah supposedly wants to play with even more pace and 3's put up, dont worry about gobert and favors playing too much together. Everyone would love a 3 and D pf with enough size to guard other pfs. they're one of the hardest positions to find right now

The defense isn't good with Rudy because they are too small. They can play with as much pace and shoot as many 3's as they want but if they don't play D it doesn't matter. Offense wasn't their problem though with Favors at the 4 it will be again

well then the idea is you have better shooters now than rubio/crowder in conley/bojan or someone else. Two bigs will always lean being better on defense however. however i ask you what 4 could you trade conley, ingles, or o'neale for?
pj tucker and aaron gordon are the 2 of the best names maybe available but pj is 6'4 and aaron gordon cant shoot well. if you want to trade conley for tobias harris and not ask for much draft compensation philly celebrates lol. Also hurts your ball handling if you trade conley or ingles. mitchell is not good enough to lead a heliocentric offense so you need conley and ingles' shot creation(clarkson is just a scorer).
This will offend you but when your best player is gobert and he's about to get max money, you just likely wont have a superteam with a flawless roster. any star who's good enough to run the offense for a title level team is a better player than gobert unless they're a massive negative on defense(just trae young and bradley beal). also no one has the cap room to sigh 2 all star level guys around a duo that both want max money besides 2017 gs because of a cap spike. Have to accept a move that fixes one flaw creates another and figure out the optimal roster construction around gobert/mitchell.

I'd trade Bojan He brings the least to the table. Scores and shoots, little else for 20 million a year. Could have went after J. Green in free agency. Lots of things to do besides pay a gunner and go backwards in time with something they already know doesn't work(for the 2nd time!). Instead they are a tax paying team and didn't fix what needed fixing. Everyone on the Jazz but their centers can handle the ball and shoot. That's the way they've played since Snyder became coach. Obviously not going to have a flawless roster with Mitchell being a high usage/low efficiency one way player soon to be maxed out. Few players out there better than Gobert. Beal and Young's teams suck. Gobert's teams don't. What flaw did they fix? They were too small last year. They could not play big. They could play small or really small. One thing has not changed in the NBA. You have to be versatile. Matchup or create mismatches which they can't do. Hopefully you fix that with a modern day starting 4. Hopefully that fixes the D as well. Gobert might not be with the Jazz so it might not matter anyway.

Well Beal and young are worse than gobert for now. My point is you have to be that bad defensively to be capable of leading a great offense and still be a worse player than gobert.
I think you’re overselling the versatility problem. Yes you wish you can be versatile like the lakers but no one is right now. Denver is one of the best teams in the west but their finishing lineup is set. having a true kind of just kills that versatility a bit, you can’t play a true small ball lineup.
You suggest going from Bojan to jamychal which makes sense but I ask where are you getting scoring from. You’re really going ask clarkson to be the 3rd guy scoring 17 a game in a playoff series vs an elite team? Can conley really get back to Memphis lvl putting up like 18/5 at his age. Bojans spacing effect is also huge he opens things up for your ball handlers and gobert lobs. A modern starting 4 is often closer to a wing than a big.

Denver won the series when they went big on the Jazz. They had no answer except for rookies who Snyder wouldn't play for some reason. He's never had a problem playing rookies especially if they went to Duke. They couldn't beat the best teams last year because of the reasons I've stated.
Where are they getting scoring from? They were the best shooting team in the league. Everyone but their centers and Favors can shoot. Scoring wasn't their problem even without Bojan in the bubble. Defense was. Size was. Versatility was. Depth was. I wouldn't ask Clarkson to be anything if it was up to me but obviously it's not. He'd have been on the first bus out of town if it was me. Conley did just fine in the bubble. Gobert at the rim. Only need so much scoring if you play defense.

Utah still needs more...Mitchell, Bojan, Conley isn't enough. They need a true PF, and an upgrade at starting C.

Obviously it isn't enough unless Mitchell starts looking like the supermax player that just got that contract and somebody starts playing defense and the coach and front office get a clue. Who's an upgrade at center? Everyone needs more if they aren't the best team and even than...

So much for their title hopes. The Gleague team is loaded again though!
