In his speech in Cairo, Obama announced a new beginning for the United States with the "Muslim world." There was an uproar all around, realizing that democracy had come to the Middle East and peace had returned.

But democracy did not come. New wars have come. Civil war has been imposed on the people of Syria and Libya in the name of the so-called 'Arab Spring'.

Today, almost a decade later, standing on the deck of neutrality and analyzing the alleys of the 'Arab Spring' reveals a completely different picture from the traditional Western narrative.

I keep seeing this from Trumpers but what peace treaty are we talking about exactly? Do you mean the UAE-Israel one? Both countries are scared of Iran's influence which is why a deal was formalized. Just a mirage.

The Saudis are still bombing the **** out of Yemen using American weapons and doing this with American consent. Not to mention Donny playing his part in trying to cover up for MbS in Khashoggi's brutal murder this past year. (A journalist)

But yeah sure lets give him the nobel peace prize. You ****ing idiot:oldlol:

Trump literally vetoed congress when congress decided to pull American troops out of Yemen, massively increased drone strikes from Obama, stooped reporting on civilian casualties and started drone striking Niger. “Peaceful” doe

Its not like the US is supporting the 'good' guys either.

Some notes

In September 1962, the army staged a coup against the Mutawakkilite Imam and set up a republican government. Civil war followed. Egypt backed the republicans with tens of thousands of troops and aircraft. The Soviets provided airlift for the Egyptian intervention. The Saudis backed the royalists, with help from Jordan and Israel. The British clandestinely coordinated the support for the royalists.

Anyone can cherry pick a specific move and label someone as a bad person. Truth is, we probably will never know the true motive behind a lot of our involvement in the middle-east and we have to be left with assumptions and generalizations.

When you put both presidencies in perspective now that they're both in hindsight, you cannot sit there and say the middle east is worse now than before (obviously c exception to covid.)

Pretty easy to label someone a bad person when they make the foreign policy decisions Reagan, HW, Clinton, GWB, Obama and Trump made. I guarantee you Biden will join that list very soon, too, not that anyone paying attention didn’t know he’s a bad person already.
