This opening scene has jack nicholson dropping the n-bomb while he talks about how black people are too lazy to help themselves out of poverty... in a film that has nothing to do with race and only has one black character in the entire movie (and he is a side character that has about 10 lines total.)

It's still ok for bad guys to be racist but I doubt they'd let anyone resembling a good guy to be racist. Although DH was really being racist to play on the Italian's insecurities so they'd off him quickly instead of torturing him and getting him to spill info on his son's whereabouts (which they found out anyway).
