Did Shaq and LeBron just take advantage of NBA rules and in reality not great at basketball?

Shaq and LeBron games are based off bullying you and making the refs respond. Neither guy can actually shoot or score unless they bully you. In pickup basketball, somebody would just end up beating the shit out of them for their offensive fouls. However, nba chooses to protect their stars and allow these guys to get away with an endless amount of offensive fouls. If you take away all the offensive fouls these guys commit, they would of never had the careers that they had.

If Shaq and LeBron were officiated properly they would be shooting 50 free throws a game and at least half of the opposing team would foul out.

If Shaq decided not to dunk and bully his way to the basket he would still be one of the best centers ever. Dropsteps, spinmoves, hookshots, an insanely soft touch etc not to mention his rebounding, defense and his insane mobility for a guy his size. At his peak teams were walling off the paint with 2-3 people yet he was still scoring and hitting the jumphook with ease far from the basket.

What the eff?

LeBron has the GOAT skills in basketball. Show me Kawhi doing ONE of these passes in his career. LeBron does this every single game.

LeBron is one of the greatest passers and most prolific three point shooters in history and that has nothing to do with bullying.

He is also one of the greatest play callers - he calls the plays for his teams - and that's due to intellect, not brute force.

But you're basically saying that 6'9 LeBron was as physically imposing as someone who was 7'1 350 pounds.

If LeBron has the same physical dominance as a 7'1 350 player while being the best passer of his generation and while being one of the most accomplished three point shooters of all time it basically means he's the clear cut GOAT.

Bron and Shaq do not belong in the same category because Shaq was truly one dimensional.

LeBron played in multiple eras with different rules. Yet he still thrived

But it doesn't work like that

You make Lebron any bigger he would most likely be worse in a lot of his skills.

He is already lacking in lateral movement and is clunky af in his movements.

Imagine allowing Paul George to be the MVP of your team.

LMAO at the bolded. At their peaks Shaq was the superior player. Just ask guys who went against Shaq. Lebron was never that unstoppable.

As for the OP... no. Both are great at basketball and would do great in any era. The last 5 or so years though, Lebron's career is benefiting from the soft rules and lack of defense. It's very easy to put up big numbers now.

There's no doubt Shaq got away with quite a few offensive fouls.

I mean, do you really consider Vince Carter, JR Smith, and Jason Kidd to be some of the most "prolific 3 point shooters" in NBA history?

Of all the players in the top 20 in NBA history in 3pt attempts, Lebron has the 2nd lowest 3pt %. (https://stathead.com/tiny/UQK49) But carry on...
