They looked very good.
But they were playing an 8th-7th seed tier team. (Maybe worse?)
Let's see them against Boston in a couple days.

Team chemistry, KD's ability to sustain his level of play for an entire season, and Kyrie's injury woes are all a significant concern. I don't see them overcoming LAL.

They should for sure make the finals at least out of the East. Would be a HUGE disappointment if they don't.

I don't see an issue with team chemistry right now, I wouldn't put much stock into last season, which they knew going in that it would just be a throwaway year for the young guys to play heavy minutes to develop & increase their trade value. KD and the new coaching staff eliminates a lot of the issues they had last year. Health is the only concern, but we could say the same thing about the Clippers & Lakers with Bron's age and the injury history of AD/Kawhi/PG.

40 - 32 for a team that was a 7 seed without KD & with Irving playing just 20 games & with LeVert missing a third of it as well?

They were worse when Kyrie played. That’s been a trend for a while now so not sure what Kyrie missing time is supposed to prove.

Small sample size, he got hurt in like 2 of those games and it's not like all the losses were on him, he was playing the best statisticall basketball of his career prior to the injury. They're winning more than 40 with a healthy KD/Irving and MDA's offense. The Jeff Green addition & the young guys improving add value as well.

Beverly can guard Irving
Kawhi and George can guard Durant
They don't have a big man scorer
I don't see them matching up well with Clippers. I do think they will make the finals but lose.

I'd trust Kyrie to perform on a big playoff stage far before Paul George. And Durant has lit up every Finals he's ever been in. 30+ PPG on like 70 TS for his career. The gold standard for efficiency is 60 TS and 120 ORTG, so that's almost unbelievable. Beverly would also get clowned. He couldn't even stop Jamal Murray... who lit him the **** up. Irving has a far bigger bag of tricks and is just flat out better at basketball.

Yeah but Durant couldn't even make a finals competitive until he went to a 73 win championship team, he lost 1-4 in the 2012 finals. How can we trust Durant to lead his team to the title as clear cut best player? he never has done it. Kyrie was also terrible in the last playoffs he was in, he seems to play well against Curry but we'll see if he can do it against elite defensive teams like Celtics\Bucks\.

Durant averaged 29 PPG on 60 TS vs Kawhi in the 2016 playoffs. And he was ice cold from 3 for his standards. He's pretty much a guaranteed 30+ on great efficiency vs Kawhi. And his teammate is capable of churning out Wilt Chamberlain lines when it counts. Kyrie is probably the highest ratio of big time ceiling player to low floor raiser I've ever seen. Put him on a crappy team, and he's worthless. On a good or great team he's gold. What do you think the odds are on Paul George outplaying him?

Giannis is playoff fools gold. Warriors in the KD era had no rim protection. On the Nets Durant can sag and let Jarrett Allen handle Giannis when he unleashes his only move ~ bull rush travel to the cup.

He's not too skinny... Prince went over a screen on a fella that has absolutely no jumper. He let Giannis get a running start on Allen. That's a tactical error that doesn't happen in the playoffs because coaches really drill tendencies in specific matchups... where as regular season in the flow there's not nearly the same level of preparation. You never... ever, ever, ever go over a screen on Giannis.

Durant's playoff BPM was doubled by Westbrook in 2016 playoffs, will Irving be able to do that for him as well?
2016 playoffs: Kawhi 23PPG on 49% FG and averaged 35.5 minutes per game
Durant 29PPG On 50% FG and 40.9 minutes per game
That was before Kawhi was a high volume scorer but there FG% isnt all that big of a difference. Durant just played more minutes, took more shots, made more freethrows. This version of Kawhi is much better then 2016 in terms of offense and I don't see Durant getting the advantage. Spurs also ended up with a higher offensive rating that series, so it's like thunder got lucky to win the series pretty much.
As far as George\Irving. The big difference is defense. Paul George can be defensive player of the year caliber and Irving is a liability. So when their shot isn't falling, i would say George is more impactful.
Same with Kawhi\Durant, when both aren't scoring well? Kawhi has better defense.
So overall, I see Kawhi\George as the better duo but we'll see.

Yeah and Durant is too skinny as well. Defense in general i see as a problem for Nets. Defense on Giannis is something I think they may really struggle with. I guess Deandre Jordan's washed up ass can give it a shot.

Allen has down syndrome, he's not the guy you want to trust in playoffs. Remember these warriors are a very lonely team with cancers like Wiggins\Kelly. So everybody that faces warriors are going to feel like a title contender. Clippers beating lakers is way more impressive. Lets see how Nets do against an actual good team and come back to this thread.

Giannis always shrivels come playoff time whilst KD takes his game to another level
The problem with Durant is you can't do anything about his game. Go under the screen? He J's you. Go over? He has the same freak athleticism and length and ball handling to posterize you. On top of that, he can play off ball... curl off screens for midrange jumpers, or spot up for 3's you have to respect. KD's game is so multi-dimensional... it's impossible to stop. A pick your poison situation. With Giannis, you just have to commit to stopping the drive at all costs. He's a super strong one trick pony until he can learn to shoot.

While the Nets winning the championship is an inevitability, let's discuss what really matters:
Nets 2nd string vs. Knicks starters
LeVert, Shamet, Prince, Green, Allen vs. Payton, someone, Barrett, Randle, and Robinson.
I'm pretty sure Nets' 2nd string would easily defeat the Knicks' starters in a 7 game series. In fact, I don't think the Knicks have a single player who would crack the Nets' rotation.
