The additions of Portis and Holiday are nowhere near enough to catapult this team to true title contender, they're essentially the same team they've been the past few years. You can't win a championship with Middleton as your second best player

Holiday is worlds better than what Bledsoe provided.

Definitely, but does this team strike you as being good enough to challenge the Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets are possibly even the Nets? I don't see how you can throw this roster out there after the last few failures in the playoffs. The roster needed a bigger change than what occurred in the offseason.

yh the bucks suck, ive pretty much accepted the fact that they're a treadmill team rn, will be a top 3 seed and can get to the ecf but not the fianls

Get Harden, bucks

I do blame him as well, he's not the great coach he was billed as by some in the past. His philosophy is basically shoot threes all game and hope it all works out. He can't adapt when the shots aren't falling or the opposition throws him a curveball. He's mediocre.

Screwed as being perennial contenders to make the finals? That's better than 2/3 of the teams out there.

Screwed as in they have virtually zero chance of winning a championship as currently constituted, which is every NBA team's ultimate objective, especially when you have a star right in the middle of his prime.

But what else could they have done? The last time they had this kind of player in his prime, they traded him to the Lakers, and he won five more rings, while the Bucks have made a couple conference finals since then.

At least Giannis, unlike Kareem, wanted to stay.

They could've got Harden

God, that would have been a wild duo to watch. I can't wait to see how little defense Harden plays until the Rockets find some team to trade him to.

But it all falls back on Giannis at the end of the day, until he gets a jumpshot or a post game they aren't real title contenders.

You're correct that he needs to diversify his offensive arsenal, that is completely clear when you watch this team in the postseason, but the Bucks also need a real number two option. Middleton is a 3rd option at best on a championship team, he's not reliable or explosive enough to be Giannis' right hand man.

If Giannis got someone that was on his level who could also create their own shot then more than likely they'd be the #1 option.

Giannis should have convinced Durant to come to Milwaukee. Imagine what a nightmare matchup that would have been for defenses.

That'd be a similar dynamic to Shaq & Kobe

This. Jrue can do everything Bledsoe did but better. They have a nice little "big 3" going if Middleton can continue improving and Lopez is still a very effective player. Jrue adds a lot to the team as far as crunch time scoring goes, they should rely less on Giannis on offense against a set defense in those situations and just let Middleton and Jrue work on the perimeter.

They will be fine, they are still the top contender they used to be, though the loss of rosters depth means they may not win as many games in regular season as last 2 years. Coming playoffs time though, they will be the best team in the Eastern Conference, and yet again only Miami Heat matches up well against them.
