The Celtics lost Gordon Hayward in free agency. Kemba Walker is starting the season limited due to lingering knee issues. So even more pressure on Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to step up.
Wonder if Tatum can get himself into the MVP discussion this season. Not necessarily as a leading candidate. That seems tough. But just be in the conversation.
Tatum last season: 23.4 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 3.0 APG, 1.4 SPG.
But Jaylen Brown wasn't far behind.
Brown last season: 20.3 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 2.1 APG, 1.1 SPG.

Random quick note that Tatum is only 22 years old. Turns 23 mid season.

Candidate as in he's in the top 10 and has no real chance of winning? Sure.

He can get into top 10 MVP voting maybe but he'll always be 4th best SF in the league as long as Kawhi, LeBron, Durant are playing

He’s one of my favorite players. I think he will he but the Celtics as a team will fall short of what he needs to be for him to really take it home

I think we need to define this a bit further.
Does he have a chance to actually WIN MVP? slim to none.
Can he be a top 10 player? Sure.

If he can average numbers similar to his playoffs one like 27 10 5 he could be in the discussion

He could get in the discussion, sure. I think it’s harder on the Celtics because Brown can put the team on his back for flashes also.

Having to mvp candidates would propel that franchise
