And he only shot two threes (made one), and made seven free throws. That's 34 points on two point shots.

He is a bright flame that will burn quick. He’s very Francis, Westbrook esque

Well, it's good to see young players still know how to score two point shots, as nowadays lots of them just spam 3s all the time.

They were down by double digits early and was never in the game, this 44pts performance is just like the 70pts performance by Booker and the 49pts performance by Curry in 2019 Finals game 3, nothing special.

Well they didn't lose because of him  he was the only reason they were competitive.

It was their defense, they are no longer known for it with a terrible defender as their big man. Plus no JJJ

First of the many high scores by a player this season. I expect a lot more.

It's damn near impossible to score 70 regardless of the situation.

44 and 49 are also hard to do even if you're down by double digits.

Doing it in the Finals under any condition is also extremely difficult.

LOL, do you know anything about this dudes character or game? Hes got "IT". Hes a fearless leader who has all the heart and drive possible. Yes, he has game changing athleticism like westbrook, But Morant will soon be a more cerabral player than westbrook ever was. Might be already but ill give westbrook vet respect

He was a+10 when no other player on our team was a positive. Was it an all time great performance? NO. But it should let you know that the kid appears to be the real deal and to expect a big leap this season and for years to come. If you dont think this kid has legit star potential, youre hating

I think the problem is many Ja Fans were hating on other young stars like Trae Young and Bradley Beal for putting up big numbers in losing efforts claiming Ja was better because HIS STYLE was winning basketball and theirs was hero ball and empty stats. Now these same fans are attempting to use his 44 point game as proof of his greatness when his team was never in the game.
Ja is a great young player, Memphis will get better when JJJ and Winslow get back and they add more pieces, it really underscores how the NBA is still and team game.
