The Celtics will be without Kemba Walker.

In the first Nets game of the season, they won big over a hurt Warriors team. Kyrie Irving shot 10/16 for 26 pts, Kevin Durant 7/16 for 22 pts, and Caris LeVert came off the bench to hit 6/17 for 20 pts, 9 reb and 5 ast. Starting Nets center DeAndre Jordan grabbed 11 rebounds.

In the first Celtics game of the season, Boston beat the Bucks by 1 pt. Kemba Walker didn't play. Gordon Hayward is on the Hornets now (just a reminder). Jaylen Brown had 33 pts, 5 reb and 4 ast, shooting 13/24. Jayson Tatum had 30 pts, 7 reb, and the game-winner, but did take 28 shots. And new Celtics Jeff Teague came off the bench to score 19 pts on 15 shots. Marcus Smart started at PG but was 0/3 for 3 pts and 7 ast.

I feel like this is more confirmation bias. Kyrie's been their best offensive player so far (though it feels kinda like splitting hairs at this point). There isn't going to be this stratified "okay, this is the No. 1 option, this is the No. 2" thing people imagine. I'd imagine they both average between 24-27 ppg this year. Kyrie will handle the ball more and possibly have as much or more influence on the offense because he can also pass pretty well and get anywhere he wants. People are going to be like "oh this is when he's successful, as a No. 2" but how many points/how efficient he is is generally the same no matter what.
