If you stop giving money to these countries, Chiina will

You will lose all standing on the world stage and essentially hurt your economy on the way out. 1.3 billion to Egypt isnt a donation, its a investment. If Egypt end ties with US, Chinas trade belt just got the worlds biggest runway and then what?

If you stop giving money to Pakistan, China willl, they then take standing in the region to go against a core US ally in India. If India economy weakens as a result so does the US economy. Then what?

I guess you can have this weird ideology that its better to keep Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos happy with tax breaks then it is to be a core player on the international stage, but its not really a smart one.

What about a pact among leading powers that nobody develops Egypt and Pakistan etc?

What does the average American get in return for ‘developing’ Pakistan?

What about a western pact that if China does business with Pakistan and Egypt etc, the west stops doing business with China?

What does the average American get in return for ‘developing’ Pakistan?

1) - Its impossible. If all the West cut business with China, your mobile phone would double in price, your computers would triple in price, your pharmaceuticals would literally run out. The beast has been created and its going to take a while to reign it back in. Cutting it off will be disastorous. In the end thats the fault of the last 5 US administrations. Each one let manufacturing go to China without a wimper and the problem will now take 20 years to fix

2) A ****ing ton. Pakistan is literally the most important military ally you have. Hosting military bases in Pakistan is as important as can be outside of maybe South Korea due to its proximity between your enemies as well as the forefront of a core US ally that is under threat from China with India. Without the military bases in Pakistan, the Afghan war would have been a disaster for the US for example. It would still be ongoing id say. This money is the very least you can do

Most of those against these payments are those who want China to win if you ask me. This is why a guy who pays more tax in China then the US like Donald Trump isnt a fan

If national LEADERS were willing to sign a non-development pact of the third world, it could easily be done. The West has a lot of leverage to push other powers toward such a pact, but the citizenry is too distracted by Netflix and transgender pride parades. Restructuring the American economy (not overnight obviously) would not HURT the average American in the long run. Obviously mental gymnastics like “its too late, think of the stockmarket, orange man bad” etc will be enough to convince many of such a notion. But realistically it would put more power in their own hands. Which frankly is something the average dum dum is afraid of anyway, so whatever.

2) Who says we have to ‘develop’ Pakistan to keep our military base there? Who’s going to stop us?

Lastly, the thread wasnt intended to suggest everything in the bill is without merit.

It was to suggest Bernie is without any semblance of consistency.

Hes a populist when hes trying to get elected.

When he loses his chance to be elected, he sucks establishment dick to keep himself in their good graces.

1) China isnt the third world. Not even close. Its more developed then the US nowadays. It cannot be easily done. If you want to figure out how to replace 70% of the worlds pharamceuticals in 1 week, then go ahead. Im all ears on that one. The only leverage the West has is to tax and replace. Tax the Nike, the Microsofts of this world to obliteration to the point where tax + Chinese manufacturing is a bigger loss then the tax + US manufacturing. They will go along eventually when it hurts them financially

2) Common sense? You want them to do you a favour without doing one yourselves? A war with Pakistan because you dont want to give them 5 billion dollars is absurd when you are carrying hundreds of billions of military equipment there. If you think Jeff Bezos is a bigger and more important ally to the US then Pakistan, you have lost the plot my friend which is kind of what you are arguing. I dont want to give Pakistan money so dont tax Jeff. How about this idea? Tax Jeff, tax Mark, give some money to Pakistan for favours with change left over to help the US people?

Of course China is not third world. I said a pact between leading nations, including the west, including China, not to develop the third world. There is no moral/philosophical reason why anyone “should” push third world countries to abandon their primitive, tribal existence in favor of western shopping malls and liberal arts universities. The ONLY reason it’s done is financial, and the financial benefit that results is insanely disproportionate. I mean we sell weapons and start civil wars in these countries anyway, right? So if we dont REALLY care how theyre treated, and it‘s just for profit... why dont globalists just cut right to the chase and suggest we enslave them, and all share in the spoils, and put it to a national vote?

I mean youre right to some extent, the current approach is something of a middleground compromise. If thats what most people are able to stomach most readily, then so be it.

Point is it does NOT jive with Bernie’s current advocacy. He knows full well an “additional stimulus” is unlikely to pass anytime soon if this bill gets crammed thru. Does he care? Hell no. He needs to keep those important DC connections happy, Rooster.

Haha, you want to be alles with China now? Im lost for words on that one. You can surrender to your enemy all you like and pretend its strength to appease yourself. Wont make it true

Bernies DC connections are much better then Republicans Wall Street connections. Bernie has his flaws but he is the only one truly standing up to big business and demanding tax changes to screw them over. Thats enough to make him a hero in my eyes. He could go out and drown puppies in front of the White House and he is still more of a hero then Moscow Mitch and his love for big business tax breaks.

Way too many people in places like this slaving to Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates and not realising it I think. Its so sad.

Bernie says those things when its easy. Either when hes running an election he’ll obviously lose, or casting a congressional (senatorial?) vote that is numerically irrelevant.

When push comes to shove and he might really burn bridges... he bends over for the big boys then toasts champagne with them. In exchange they allow him the token appearance of a hero for the downtrodden.

And to his credit, it does fool bladefd and ItsMillerTime

Words dont make you anti establishment, actions do. THe thing is. Words are easier then actions so people like to hope words will be enough all the while picking up their Amazon package from the doorstep

Of course he obviously loses. You are a slave to big business and wouldnt let it be any other way at present. Its more important for your Amazon package to be 5.95 shipping cost instead of 9.95 shipping then it is for your neighbour to have a real job.

He has never been important enough to do anything he says. Its just sad is all rather then anything else

Oh okay cool, I definitely believe that.

Also I wasn't arguing AGAINST it just now, I was arguing ABOUT it since you brought the topic up. Pointing out pros and cons and suggesting alternatives.

I think there was a bit of a reading comprehension hiccup. You thought this thread was about me condemning the bill. It was actually about Bernie supporting passage of the bill, when it does not include what most Americans believe is enough of a stimulus, when Bernie knows there's a good chance an additional stimulus bill doesn't come to fruition if this passes as constructed.

He could be arguing with his colleagues, INCREASE THE STIMULUS in this bill, and pass it. Instead he's telling Trump to sign the bill for $600 peanut payouts.

I thought Bernie was an economic revolutionary but I guess not :(

He is saying to sign the bill that was agreed too. What a mad man

Trump wants to give 2000 bucks because he knows its a easy victory. Give people more money is hardly a losing philosophy in politics. The ultimate questiion is, where does the money come from?

The common sense approach to the bill is sign it as it is and in January re convene and sign a second 1500 dollar cheque that is directly paid for via tax increases against those companies who live in US but manufacture overseas. Seems like a easy enough approach doesnt it? Its essentially what Bernie is arguing

Wanting 2000 dollars without wanting big business to pay for it is a bit of a loser mentality and very very weak.

So India are lieing? Why would they do that? After doing a bit of research you must be talking about the 2019 Balakot air strike during which India bombarded the Pakistani city of Balakot.

India didn't claim there was US officials present during the air strike. They claimed that they downed a PAF F-16. That was in February 2019.

In April 2019, officials from the US Department of Defense said that all Pakistani F-16s were accounted for. Since they are responsible to oversee and maintain jet fighters sold to other countries. India threw a fit because they wanted the glory of having downed a Pakistani jet fighter.
