View Full Version : Do Liberals celebrate Christmas?

I meant to post this thread weeks ago, but as is customary during this time of year, I have friends and family and loved ones that I visit and spend time with by getting out of the house and exchanging gifts and talking over delicious meals. I know for some of you, you don't get to experience such things during this time of the year, and I'm truly sorry about that.

But it got me wondering, for the Liberals on the board, who also despise Christianity and do not believe in a God, I just have one question for you right now.....

Why is there a Christmas tree in your living room??

As if christmas in its roots has anything to do with god or Jesus. You can't be that uneducated.
Gifting at christmas is a relatively new custom aswell.

It's a pagan festivity and so is the tree. You're celebrating a mix of north and roman mythology. Christianity as a religion came much later.

Jesus was born on December 25th. Christmas is not a Pagan Holiday, amigo. And Christmas trees date back to German Protestant Christians.

CHRISTIANITY.

So tell me, how did you decorate your Christmas tree this year??

The most reliably democratic demographic is black women....who are almost all Christians as well. The idea that liberals aren’t Christians is flawed to begin with. But even ignoring that.....

Christmas is in modern American practice....a reason to give kids gifts. That’s all it’s been to me all my life. Gifts at Christmas. Turkey on thanksgiving. Fireworks on the 4th and New Years. It’s tradition. The origins....pagan or Christian...the dates(like the fabricated day Jesus was born) mean little to me. I don’t care any more about the Virgin Mary story on Christmas or if Christmas should be the 25th than I do about fighting redcoats or the day the actual declaration was signed when I’m eating bbq on the 4th of July.

Its a day off and a reason to make kids smile.

So in essence, you've hijacked Christmas with its roots in Christianity, and have used it as a reason for gift-giving.

I care as much about who invented Christmas when my kid wants a present under a tree as a redneck who hates Mexicans cares who invented tacos when his kid wants Taco Bell. Irrelevant data.

I’m fairly certain my grandma had her tree for gift purposes too and she was a Sunday school teacher.

The two sides of Christmas in the modern world....faith and capitalism? Pretty much the engine and transmission of Christmas in America. This kid I know wanted a remote control car. He doesn’t likely know or care if it’s about Jesus. He wanted a car so I got one.

Thats the deal. Take care of kids and to a lesser extent...a few adult women(mom, grandma, and whatever women expecting something). It’s never been anything else to me.

Though December 25 is the day Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the date itself and several of the customs we've come to associate with Christmas actually evolved from pagan traditions celebrating the winter solstice. ... "In ancient Rome there was a feast called Saturnalia that celebrated the solstice.

Not knowing we don’t have a real day for the birth of Jesus seems weird. I would have known that at 6 years old. It’s just....tradition. Nothing is in the Bible to support it. They just took the day and made it Christmas.

Easter was the big time religious holiday whenI was a kid....Christmas was always number 2.

I don’t know when society started going on like Easter wasn’t happening. Easter used to shut down the country. You couldn’t get a tank of gas on Easter. All that was open was church....and you had to go. Period. Had to.

Christmas was a family thing. Easter was about Jesus. You would hear a prayer or two on Christmas....but Easter was a whole...ordeal. The damn pastor might come to your house....

Come on amigo, no one celebrating Christmas today is thinking about Pagan traditions or celebrating it because of Pagan traditions. This isn't Norway. In this day and age, Christmas in associated with Christianity.

So, I just want to know why a holiday that has its roots deeply tied to Christian traditions is still celebrated by Liberals who have an aversion to Christianity. Strikes me as a little hypocritical.

So you mean modern people don’t have to associate current holidays with their ancient origins? You might be on to something....

Modern people are associating Christmas with Christianity and with Jesus Christ. The excuse people like you find is that..."well, it really isn't a Christian tradition, so when I put my tree up, I'm not really advocating for Christian tradition or the Virgin Mary or Baby Jesus" as you just stated.

Kblaze8855

You don’t see people like me give an excuse for putting up a tree. Why would I need an excuse? Who do I need to explain having a tree to? What about having a tree requires excuses?

Did you put up a Christmas tree? Or did you put up a Pagan Tree? And was it an evergreen conifer?

Kblaze8855

I didn’t put one of my own up this year though I would have if asked. All that was at my moms house this year. And pagan or Christmas it would have served the same purpose. A place for gifts. And pagan isn’t a religion anyway. Not an individual one at least. It’s entirely possible they are pagan trees regardless of what we call them or use them for currently. I have no desire to judge you or any Christian over the origin of your celebrations and traditions. I don’t consider it any of my business. Do you.

On September 11, 3 B.C. sunset was at 6:18 pm and moonset at 7:39 pm. It was during this eighty-one minute period of time that Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem of Judaea. In this booklet, September 11th the Day Jesus Christ was born, Tony Ray presents a thorough and careful examination of astronomical, secular, and biblical records. When read carefully, the evidence presented in this book, will help you to determine precisely and conclusively, that September 11th, 3 B.C. was the day Jesus Christ was born!

Believe it or not.

Paganism is the original religion of european heritage you're proud of though... christianity came from the middle east and was forced upon us. Thats why people were getting burned at the stake for being witches and shit.

Nobody wants witches roaming around.

But it makes sense that Liberals would lean towards the Pagan part of it.

You’re a hyper-capitalist which is pretty far removed from Jesus’ teachings. You can call yourself a Christian but you don’t follow his teachings at all.

Jesus would be proud that I worked hard to open up my own business to provide for my family as opposed to just giving you money because you're an unemployed bum that mooches off his parents and eats cheez balls all day in the basement.

and make no mistake about it... Trump is definitely a wolf in sheep's clothing.... who you should not be deceived by if you're wearing your spiritual glasses.

Sometimes he reminds me of Gary Oldman's character in the Book of Eli... using the Bible to further his own agenda
