Samuel Little
60 confirmed murders, 93 suspected.
35 year span 1970-2005
10-11 states
Every person he killed with his bare hands
He said he was totally innocent until his health started failing 2 years ago and was prodded by relentless investigators, one of who eventually "befriended" the dying man. His IQ was only listed at 96 but it's suspected it would have been much, much higher with schooling since he spent much of his youth in the streets or in jail. His memory was photographic. Police suspect he committed all 93 murders because unlike many serial killers he didn't brag about what he had done and every single murder he confessed to was proven to be him or he couldn't be excluded from. His memory was excellent in his old age, not only remembering remarkable details about his victims but he could describe every one of the vehicles that were owned by the victims
He had probably done his last murder 7 years prior to being arrested on drug charges in 2012 but his DNA did him. Even after they linked him to a couple of murders, it took years for police to realize the scope of his murder spree. Pretty amazing considering he did many of his murders during the period of modern forensics and advanced crime solving. He murdered women and transexuals of all races but said he was careful to keep far away from white neighborhoods where a missing housewife or teenage girl would generate instant manhunts.
Another fascinating factoid is that considering the amount of trouble he got in, you'd figure they would have got him a long time ago. He had a criminal record in at least 24 states.
He selected his victims by the slenderness or beauty of their necks. If a woman had an ugly neck, they'd be safe from him. He was a rapist/killer.
