When Trump was inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2017, the total national debt was nearly $20 trillion, according to the Treasury Department. It has increased over roughly 30% since, nearly $8 trillion, to $27 trillion, as of Monday.

For comparison, President Barack Obama added roughly $9 trillion to the national debt during his eight years in office, according to the Treasury Department.

There is no truth to the rumor that Republicans balance the budget.

Shouldn’t be surprising, Trump has been accumulating (and welching) on debts for decades. That’s what he does.

Ah yes, you're so very right, it's a Trump issue and not a US political culture issue and it's also definitely NOT a central banking issue.

Anyone want to bet that Biden exceeds Trump's debt additions? If he somehow does not it's only because things have somewhat recovered and the blip earlier this year with the trillions in money printing was an anomaly that does not continue into the future.

Trump is no different than any of the swamp people we have had over the decades. He is a part of that very swamp pushed to the extreme.

Can't "drain the swamp" when you are the swamp.
