Hes gonna be the deciding vote on ending the filibuster which is the only thing preventing statehood to DC and Puerto Rico and adding seats to the supreme court. Hes already said he absolutely will not go along with it but Lindsey said he absolutely would not allow Trump to add a supreme court justice in his final year and we know how that went. "But you said...." means nothing in Washington and republicans recently seemed to be in favor of whatever was legal regardless of anyone giving their word.

That guy changes his mind 2 more Blue senate seats in DC are a lock and Puerto Rico voted for statehood and might be blue or red. May end up a Hawaii and Alaska situation where they flip from expected party affiliation to be solidly in the other camp. DC would be safe though. 2 to 1 democratic majority. They would take that one for sure and debate puerto rico. DC statehood already passed the house. Only need a simple majority in the senate(which can then never be undone) provided ending the filibuster allows a vote to happen at all. There are a couple republicans who support PR statehood(Rubio for one) but hed never vote to end the filibuster to let it happen because of what would come with it.

Manchin flatly promised not to allow it.

Now we see who cares about their word and how much "Its legal! Do it! **** what you said. Just win." politics bites republicans in the ass.

He might become the biggest Democrat hero to the American right in decades or the biggest foil to a party in years along with Mccain.

The pork that guy will be able to get for West Virginia in exchange for his votes will be insane. I just dont know if he can afford to do it in West Virginia.

Hes gonna get death threats from one side or the other if it comes down to his vote no matter what he does.

That guy folds the supreme court will have 11 members and democrats get at least 2 safe senate seats forever. I cant even imagine the lobbying efforts behind the scenes to get on his good side....

Imagine him walking up and hitting Democrats with the "No!" Mccain style on the filibuster ending vote. Hed be the most hated and admired person in America at the same time.

Manchin will most like flip to the GOP. It's happened before.

It does happen. That’s how Obama got 60 votes for the ACA.

Welp, it's already happening. GA Rep. Vernon Jones just jumped ship and joined the GOP: https://twitter.com/RepVernonJones/status/1346836180860608524

He’s been with Republicans for some time now I guess he just did the paperwork. He spoke at the rnc. I think they have shown they can spare a georgia state rep.

Gotta love how the dems are already making excuses for why they will be incapable of getting anything done despite holding the presidency and both houses of congress :oldlol:

System just works how it works. If you need 10 of your opponents to allow you to vote on a matter they want to defeat....why would they?

Things that require a simple majority will obviously happen. If you need 60 to have the vote? It wont without a republican breaking to remove that roadblock. Just the world as it is.
