Gregg Popovich on @KingJames : "I think he’s going to be an iconic figure … I’m so proud of this guy and so pleased for him … to see his development as a human being, as a citizen, as someone who looks at the social issues of our time and is willing to speak out."

Pop on LeBron James' commitment to activism: "I think he's going to be an iconic figure. Nobody is going to be what Muhammad Ali was ... but in that same genre, I am so proud of this guy and so pleased for him."

More Pop on LeBron: "Basketball, sure, fine. But as a human being, as a citizen, as someone who looks at the social issues of our time, he doesn't do it with hate. He just tells the truth and lays it out there. ... He's a very special person in that regard."

More praise for LeBron from Popovich from a week ago:

"His mental state along with his physical state really makes him very special, probably more than anybody that has played the game."

:oldlol: where was lebron on that issue? Maybe just like with baksetball, you only pick on the stats that you know you can use to prop you up. You’re only vocal on issues when it would make you look good.

Morey's initial tweet was a classic dumb American response as if the situation was black and white, right or wrong, like Americans like to think they always are. He didn't even try to think about the issue with any sophistication before posting it. That is what LeBron objected to.

LeBron stood for truth and fact. He called out Morey because Morey was ill informed. The situation in Hong Kong was much more complex than Americans could appreciate with local dynamics that we have no clue about, and Morey later agreed with LeBron and apologized.
