Assuming the 2 new teams are Seattle and Las Vegas, the Western Conference will have 17 teams, and should send one team to the Eastern Conference. How do you think this will work out? And how will the divisions change since one division may end up with 6 teams?
My idea is that, to send Memphis Grizzlies to Eastern Conference since it is geographically closest to teams in the East. Each conference will have 4 divisions instead, since 16 is divisible by 4 rather than 5. The proposed divisions look like this:
Western Conference:
Northwest:
Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, Golden State
Pacific:
LA Lakers, LA Clippers, Las Vegas, Phoenix
Mountain:
Utah, Denver, Minnesota, OKC
South:
Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, New Orleans
Eastern Conference:
Northeast:
Boston, Brooklyn, NY, Philadelphia
North:
Milwaukee, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto
Central:
Cleveland, Indiana, Washington, Memphis
Southeast:
Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Charlotte
Thoughts?
