Hes not near the top of my soulful white music list. Id say that list is topped by Hall and Oates and Bobby Caldwell unless you wanted to count the blues when the list would be a lot different. I guess I gotta include Jon B in there too. And maybe Boz Scaggs. Mcdonald is soulful but not many of his songs stand out to me.

I'm not black, but Id' consider Michael McDonald a tunesmiths. I'm not sure how many tunesmiths there are, but it's not as though there's a great many.

Similarly, I'd read some of the books by Roald Doahl and not leave the house for three weeks in a row, though I don't think I'd rec them as a top choice.
