View Full Version : Durant should have vetoed the Harden trade

He basically forfeited his RS MVP and a potential surge up the goat ranking by winning a real ring instead of another superteam one. Now regardless what happens he will always be seen as a frontrunner. Very shortsighted from KD once again like his move to GSW. The Nets were already a bonafide contender and a supremely balanced team (more so than they are now) matching better against the Lakers.

Of course he shouldn't have, he and Harden can dominate the East for a while. What he should do, or should have done already, is getting Kyrie off that team asap, because the Nets would be better off with two decent 3&D players, rather than one mentally ill All-Star.

Yeah Kyrie will be the death of this team.

He now has a teammate good enough to help him win a ring (Harden) and a legit excuse if he doesn't (Irving). If all he cares about is the perception of his legacy then this trade is great.

He already had a teammate good enough to help him win a ring in Kyrie, since Kyrie did exactly that for Lebron in 2016. He also had Levert and Allen who were legit contender teammates but didnt have the star name of Harden which now will force him to split the credit for any eventual title.

The Nets weren’t winning shit before they got Harden and they absolutely weren’t good enough to win a ring. **** outta here. KD+Kyrie+role players is not some legendary team.

Come on, we dont even know if Irving retires tomorrow. Nets and Durant wanted this trade to feel 'safe' about their situation, Irving is way too unpredictable.

OP doesn't give a f*ck about KD's legacy.

He's just furious about Harden being put in position to win a ring. :oldlol:

You're ignoring the fact that Irving is a headcase. He isn't playing. Why isn't he playing and will the situation be resolved? I don't know know. KD may have a better idea and his knowledge may well have lead to him being for the deal. Certainly no reason to reject it.

Nope.

Quit being delusional OP.

Why would he do that? He was one of the main ones in favor of the trade. He knows Kyrie is a wacko at this point.

There's no scenario or excuse if he doesn't win a championship.

If either he gets injured again or if Harden gets hurt, those are legitimate excuses.

Wasn't shortsighted at all.

The Nets won that trade.

Injuries to main players is obviously an exception to the rule, but I thought that didn't need to be written out.

The team isn't deep and he may end up leading them in blocks. LA Lakers are definitely better if Irving doesn't come back. If Irving does come back and isn't a cancer then they should be the favorite but the defense is still bad. They remind me a little of Don Nelson's mavericks

As if it makes any difference if Harden gets some sidekick ring after his entire career has been marked by failures:oldlol: some of us actually like players who play the game the right way, like KD, not pound the ball, chuck and flop...

And thats the whole point, that winning a ring like this is not nearly as relevant for goat rankings as winning it with a two star team with a strong balanced squad (like Lakers was or Clippers would be). This is KD at GSW all over again, meaningless chips... same goes for Harden

People keep saying that trading for Harden was the right move because Kyrie is an enigma and might quit, but Brooklyn wanted a big three, otherwise they would have sent Kyrie the other way. KD was supposed to win a real ring the hard way, that was the whole point of leaving the bay.

This doeant help any of their legacy, having a team of 3 legit stars, your expected to win. Taking the 2 star + roll players route is the best way.

Nope.

Doing whatever it takes to win is the best way (except blatant cheating obviously).
