View Full Version : Just remember. Brooklyn has a history of flopped Super Teams

Remember a number of years back when New Jersey officially become Brooklyn? Who did they sign and what was their starting lineup?
PG- Deron Williams
SG- Joe Johnson
SF- Paul Pierce
PF- Kevin Garnett
C- Brooke Lopez
Now I know some of you are going to say that Pierce and KG were washed, same with D Will. But at the time, you did not say that. At the time, people were saying this team would go 82-0. Why did some of you think they were going to dominate but then in hindsight say they were washed? They weren't good. I remember young Golden State dominating them.
The new Brooklyn trio is so ball dominant. You really think that 3 ball dominant scorers is the way to go? They all need the ball to be effective. They aren't like Klay Thompson who just catches and shoots. Something has to give. And Harden certainly doesn't add defense to their line up. Be honest with yourselves. You think Brooklyn is a guarantee?
Unfortunately, I hate to say this, but if they do live somewhat up to par and Lebron beats this team, it boosts his legacy even higher.

Historically there are a lot of failed super teams. Bringing up the 13-14 Nets is weird though. None of Deron, JJ, Pierce and Garnett were anywhere near their primes.
They are a better team than gs this year. Deal with it.

Don't you get tired of trolling? I've said it before, but the fact OP takes the time and effort to come up with and type all this out, instead of copy and pasting like another deranged lunatic here, makes him almost even more sad and pathetic than 3ball, almost

That first nets team was washed but your point is noted.

Most superteams are flopped, the Lakers also failed in 2004 and 2013. Theres only one champion team every year, its just ring or bust.

Do you consider the heat and cavs as superteams too, for a span of 8 years (4 years for each team)?

Again, they're trying to beat LeBron.
Good luck with that. Especially with a 13th ranked defense.

Another issue for Brooklyn is that they've assembled their superteams in the same sloppy, cobbled-together manner.
It has never been done thoughtfully with high IQ players leading the way in terms of planning and organization from that side.

Historically, Brooklyn Nets are nothing but a glorified crew.

The Cavs in 2017 had 21th ranked defense btw, and could win the title if they aint going up against the Warriors.

I actually thought that their team at the start of the year was great. The egos, the players for ball movement, their 3rd best player not complaining about not getting enough ball.. this is probably the nastiest 3 offensive team ever assembled, but I don't know if it's going to work..

Honestly I think all of the Nets Big 3 will really be in it to win a title. I think they will be focused so maybe I'm wrong but I'm not expecting one of them to sabotage it. Their problem will be defense especially if they can't fill out the roster and get say two defenders, one guard and one big.

Nets defense will end up even worse than that. The only reason it wasn't worse than 13th up to this point was lucky variance on open shots by their opponents. The regression to the mean is now starting to him them.

lol our defense isnt as bad as you think, the thing is that these players only contest shots when playing against lesser teams. Theres a reason why we are 6-1 against playoffs teams and only 1-5 against lottery teams. I am not saying they are going to win a title or not, but defense is hardly the excuse if it doesnt happen.
