It's a decent catch-all stat that sums up how good your box score numbers are adjusted for pace and league averages.

It tends to overrate big men and overvalue the negative effect of turnovers. It's also a per minute production stat, not a gross production stat. All of its flaws have combined to overrate Chris Boucher.

Do you even watch him for you to say he is overrated. What makes him overrated?

Not much at all. PER is a stat that aggregates boxscore stats with arbitrary coefficients. You can just compare players' overall production by looking at all their averages. No need for PER.
