View Full Version : Why didn't Jimmy Butler get a Finals MVP vote?

Jimmy Butler led a team with an injury to its leading scorer and that relied on a rookie and an undrafted player as Butler's lieutenants. He forced the series to six games by outplaying two commonly considered top ten players in a couple of games. Why didn't he get even a single vote?

I guess a senile ****er who should give us all a favor and die (hubie brown) wasn't voting. Hubie would of voted for Rajon Rondo. Still can't believe that senile **** voted for Vanvleet in 2019 finals, did Kawhi hurt your buddy Greg Pop's feelings? Sorry sack of shit. 1 vote doesn't mean anything is my point. Majority vote is all that matters.

uh dude you dumb?
compare 2020 lebron to 2015 Curry's
thats why
20' bran more dominant, closed the door while 15' curry opened it up for someone to win (iggy closed it)
stay learnin, good question noobie

It is precisely because of the narratives surrounding the 2015 finals that this question was posed. 2020 Butler got the Heat to 6 games just like the inferior player did in 2015 but whereas the inferior player did it against a team with a roster without a single player that had seen the finals, Butler did it against a team with two top ten players loaded with experienced vets.
Butler got to the same place with less against more experienced opposition. But the inferior player got four votes and Butler got nada. Why?

Because he lost, you dont give FMVP to a loser. Lebron campaigned in 2015 not to award him if he lost the final.
If only they won that series, i think he'll be the unanimous fmvp which puts him at one unlike chef dingo.

He campaigned against being given the award if he lost? Do you know what campaign means?
I don't recall that but if true that makes it even more ridiculous that he got votes while Butler did not.
But that's the ESPN FMVP award for you.

Because he lost lol.
Butler isn't on LeBron's level, and he isn't the best two guard in the NBA (that distinction goes to Harden).

He played well. Really well. But still not better than Lebron and AD.

Maybe because LeBron won and had a far better series?

Real answer-
Not because he lost. But because he did nothing in that last game. He was completely spent, I get it, but you can't get a series mvp with that kind of conclusory performance.
If he had balled out again in game 6 and the Heat lost a nail-biter, he would have received votes.
