After all the drama last year, that drama is now in Brooklyn. And the Clippers are silently the best team in the league.

This will be 8-0 when Kawhi doesn't wear the mask and they been up 15-20 points in every game.

Yeah they look really good. No way they dont make the conference finals. Even if PG's play declines Kawhi wont let them get embarrassed like they did last year.

They had a fluke choke last year.
They are coming back with a vengeance.
Ty lue is a key piece to another downfall of theirs

Is it really a fluke if they blew a double digit lead in 3 straight games?

They shoot great from the line as a team. I like that.

They had absolutely no one to defend Jokic. If they had Ibaka or even Howard last year they beat the Nuggets convincingly.

They were beating the Nuggets convincingly enough to gain a 3-1 lead though. And they were beating the Nuggets convincingly by double digits in much of games 5, 6 and 7. Their defensive mismatch with Jokic doesn't have anything to do with Kawhi and George shooting 2-78 in the 2nd half of game 7 on the offensive end. It wasn't about any mismatches. It was about them choking. They choked.

they're following the ty lue formula well. completely play around your 2 stars with floor spacers. however also following the ty lue formula of not being good defensively so far. a lot of that is lue messing with rotations with that 3 guard lineup of reggie, lou, kennard being disastrous defensively but it still worries me. I like ibaka but he's not an anchor anymore and no he cant guard jokic. clips have to outscore denver or shut down murray

This. A fluke is one game. Maybe two. But three? Nah man.

And by the way, the Nuggets series aside, let's not forget how underwhelming they were in the 1st round against the Mavericks as well. Prior to the series, there was so much talk about how the Clippers were a nightmare matchup for the Mavs, but in the end the Clippers needed 6 games to beat them, and the Mavs had a bullshit, series-altering ejection on Porzingis in game 1, who also ended up missing well over half of the series.

That was definitely choking I agree. But it wasnt just that imo. Nuggets had great wing defenders. When pace dropped in the game (usually 2nd half) and score was close, Nuggets had the upper hand. They were a bad matchup. Clippers would have done better against the Jazz. But they werent going to beat the Lakers anyway beacuse of the lack of rim protection so it doesn't really matter.

not sure the Jazz were a better matchup. Snyder already had out coached Rivers in the playoffs and Ingles has given George problems

Its much harder to defend Murray&Jokic 2 man game than Mitchell&Gobert and that killed the Clippers. Jokic was raining downs 3s. I think Jazz matches up better with Lakers. But thats my guess. Clippers Jazz would have been competitive too.

Not with the 16th ranked defense.
They are levels behind the Lakers, who have the #1 defense and a top 5 offense.

Lakers are probably the toughest matchup for the Jazz because of their lack of size outside their centers. Jazz have more than Mitchell and Gobert. Conley was putting up 20 a game and Clarkson his share as well

I think that the focus being shifted to other teams has helped them a lot. They don't have as much pressure as last year.

Yeah, a few factors played into it.
1) Nuggets being a poor matchup. Jokic is the best offensive big man in the nba and they had slow turtle Zubac or undersized dummy Harrell guarding him. Murray's game was also enhanced in the bubble as he was putting up Curry numbers.
2) Paul George dated Doc River's daughter and cheated on her. It was awkward the second these two ever landed on a team. Quite frankly, I think it's one of the main reasons why Paul George checked out in the bubble and used the "depression" excuse. Imagine if Scottie Pippen cheated on Phil Jackson's daughter, that's just obviously not a way to build a bond between star\coach.
Having said that, Kawhi\George both still played great in games 5\6 but the clippers bench was so embarrassing that it wasn't good enough to win. Lou Williams can't be counted on in big playoff games and should of already been moved by now.

The Clips started off pretty bad. like 27th in the league defense. But they are hitting all strides now. In the past 5 games, they might be top 3-5 of the best defensive teams in the league. They been keeping teams to low 100 or under 100. That's why they shot up to like 16-17th. So, it's bit deceiving.
But I think they are really operating at a crazy high right now. PG, I don't think can keep this crazy efficiency up. Kawhi could. Proven that he could. And I would love to see them against another top team. Like Philly, Celts, Lakers, or Bucks right now.

That just means they've been inconsistent and that the poor play they started with will probably rear its head again at some point. Their start indicates that they are likely to have an up and down season with stretches of great play and stretches of not-so-great play, not unlike last year.

Clips were never truly comfortable or gelling all year.
Nuggets exposed that.
Sure they choked a little, but playing wise they also just got exposed.
I mean most of those leads were recovered in the third and ended up in Nuggets blowouts.
