From 1968-1970 Kentucky Colonels PG Loui Dampier averaged 2.5 made threes on 6.9 attempts per game for 36% over 160 games while averaging 25.4 ppg. This was one season after the start of the ABA and the three point line. The distance was the same as it is today.
What's interesting is that Louie only shot 28% his rookie season on 0.5/2 attempts. What changed? The Thinking Basketball video says he must have practiced the shot like modern NBA players do.
