He'll be around 28 years old, around peak for the average star player... what will his averages be? Will he have developed a 3point shot? He's currently made 3 his entire career.

He’ll probably be the same player he is now.

I was big on Simmons until late last season. But now I agree with the sentiment in this thread. He'll be a similar player to what he is now. Maybe a slightly better scorer if he develops in a few areas, but he's not going to be a 20+ppg player.

Currently he pretty much only scores in transition or if there's a defensive break down. It's frustrating to watch as someone who was really hyping him.

Having said that, the other aspects of his game will see him making plenty of AS and All-D teams and he may peak at All-NBA 2nd team level if he can score a little more, but I don't see him becoming a superstar.

He will still be unable to shoot a jumper, and we have no idea if Embiid is still there in Philly with him.

The 76ers organization will be upset over trading away Mikal Bridges after he wins DPOY and is dropping 22ppg a night while Simmons is posting the same statline he is today https://www.thecoli.com/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/unimpressed.png

Let's see. It's difficult to say, but experience tells me not to get your expectations too high. For example, after watching Blake Griffin his first couple of years, I thought he would win MVP's in the future. However, he didn't improved that much and with the introduction of small-ball he just doesn't even make All-Star teams nowadays.

He won't be at Philly, I can assure that much.

Kinda silly to think about so far ahead, but... his whole game is athleticism based. He has no basketball skill. So I would assume as he gets older he'll be a total liability. Like a tall Westbrook.

Richard Simmons don’t want it ... Has the mental make up of a back up point guard.

Yeah Blake is somewhat of a good example except he came into the league without a shot at all and has slowly developed himself into a decent shooter.

We won’t lose sleep over Bridges. Although the was the safe pick to make no question about it. But Porter Jr is who the Sixers will kick themselves over.

The issue fans need to realize is not “he can’t shoot”. People mention Rondo, Kidd, Blake Griffin. All 3 players shot the ball early in their careers and in college.

Great shooter
Good shooter
Bad shooter
Doesn’t shoot

There’s levels. Ben Simmons is a special case. There is no perimeter player like him. That is the issue. Fans keep pointing out other guys. No comparison. Ben Simmons just lacks the sample size to even diagnose can he shoot, can he improve as a shooter. Hence the frustration. For all we know Ben could start shooting like everyone complains and he’s nothing more than a Giannis. A below average yet serviceable shooter at best. Then the narrative becomes he doesn’t shoot to he can’t shoot. And then the comparisons of who couldn’t shoot that became better shooters are listed. By that time Ben will be retired. He is what he is. Ben Iguodala, forget the shooting. Focus on the passive player who rather passes than score. The #3 option who doesn’t have to be a franchise player or complimentary star to that player. He can just be and stuff stat sheet play good defense and...just be.
