View Full Version : Did Kyrie sit out to avoid being traded?

Part of me thinks that he sat out purposely because he thought he would be traded and did it as a way to make him undesirable to potential suitors. "He's crazy" the other teams would think. No other way to explain sitting out and missing out on 1 million dollars, with no injury or explanation.

I thought about this in another thread and it all makes sense now. Kyrie was the initial trade bait over a hurt LeVert and Jarrett Allen... obviously a bigger star than both, and off to a hot start to the season. I think he sat during the Harden negotiations just to make him a less viable trade option. No way he wanted to land in bum Cleveland or Houston without Harden...

Houston didn't want him and I doubt Cleveland would have either with their young guards

Cleveland has Drummond who is totally unplayable next to Jarrett Allen... so that argument doesn't make sense.

Houston got LeVert out of the deal who was hurt already. So they had nothing to lose with trading for Kyrie whose been averaging 25+ ppg on elite efficiency this year.

I think this was a slick move.

Kyrie is always playing chess as those around him play checkers

I didn’t see him play any chess with the Celtics. He was a complete waste of time for the Celtics.

It was all part of his master plan for becoming a neurotic, toxic chucker.

No. In fact, if the Nets had plans to trade him it would've happened while he was sitting out. Other teams that have suffered without enough star power would've rolled the dice on him, no problem.

Whatever that plan is, he better get results soon. It’s been a number of years now since he’s been like this beginning with the Celtics. That’s quite a buildup.
