There's a reason why Trump makes a point of calling it the China virus. Actually two reasons. The Chinese government was letting a fake rumor spread in its own fake media that the China virus did not originate from the wet markets of Wuhan, but rather that it originated from a US soldier who sneaked into China, and this soldier just so happened to have the China virus.

The other reason was because the Democrats wanted to make it the Trump virus.

The public in the main, as a collective is not that bright. Whether it's the Chinese public or the American public. As much as we see that it came from China, if Trump didn't fight back then that wouldn't have been the case for many people right now.

Theres nothing wrong with naming a virus after its point of origin/discovery, prior to 2020 this was a very common way to name a newly discovered illness.
