I've repeatedly heard/read that this is insulting, as depression and anxiety are real medical conditions.
Thoughts? SSRIs? Anyone? Bueller?

This is common sense. Exercise definitely helps bring you out of a funk so this is fantastic advice and should be given freely and often. :confusedshrug:
Unfortunately too many people today actually like to wallow in their own tears and look for anything to be offended by.
Jogging a few miles with your music blasting in your ears gears the brain for positivity. I remember a few years ago after a long jog, I thought to myself I'd hit on this girl that was way out of my league later on in the day. I got shot down but the point remains the same. It definitely creates a more positive outlook in life.

It's not wrong but it's completely stupid to think going for a run around the block is a magic cure for depression or anxiety.
Also, wrong forum?

Yes it is. Or at least it's starting to be a very horrible thing to tell someone who is suffering from anxiety or depression.
We are living in the woke era that's being pushed hard by the democrats. How dare you tell someone who's depressed or suffers from anxiety to simply exercise to possibly blow off some steam. That might have been a practical suggestion, something to try that everyone involved knows it might or might not work but what the hell, lets try it anyways. But in the woke era these people are "different." Simply suggesting to blow off some steam would be like telling a guy who thinks he's a girl to go to the men's bathroom. So vote democrat.
In fact, ISH has shown (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?490044-Let-s-talk-crazy) that people who suffer from anxiety are 2 times more likely to vote democrat, and people who suffer from depression are 30% more likely to vote democrat. Because they understand that you're a victim of something akin to racism.

It depends on how you phrase it. I don't think anyone would have a problem if you told them "There are some studies that show that regular exercise can help some people with their depression". Saying "You should get off your lazy ass and go for a jog, that'll perk you right up." would probably not be helpful.

If they're fat, yes. Telling a fat person to exercise is wrong because you have to accept people for what they are.

I'm confused by your question. Are you talking about Magic Johnson's son?
