I love Jamal but he just hasn't been good this year which is surprising after the playoffs he had. I have to rank him last. Mitchell has been better but other than his explosion in the last playoff against Denver he's done nothing. McCollum's been a good player for a long time and the way Lavine is playing this year he looks like the best of all of them.

Beals been a part of the worst defense in the league 2 straight seasons now

Mitchell put up 36 PPG on 70 TS% mostly guarded by Murray. He only got clamped when Gary Harris came back and checked him. Murray had b2b 50 pieces on him and a huge series himself

CJ and Dame have been a bottom 3 defensive backcourt for many seasons now

none of these nikkas play D

Zach LaVine is averaging 26.6 ppg on 50% FG in 19 games
Donovan Mitchell is averaging 22.8 on 42% FG in 19 games
Jamal Murray is averaging 18.9 ppg on 45% FG in 19 games

CJ and LaVine so far are having a better start of the season compared to the other two. But playoffs matters most so. It really depends on what you looking for on your roster.

Lavine reminds me quite a bit of Devin Booker. Him and Booker will always get hate for their defense no matter how much they improve, because people just go by their old reputation. Shit, Booker has improved his D quite a lot and people still act like he's one of the worst defenders. Last season in my eyes he reached the level of "barely even a detriment anymore", and this year he's been at least average(and even quite good at times). Stats place him at close to the middle of the pack give or take in damn near every single stat(filtered by Guards who play over 25 mins). And my own eye test tells me he's played slightly above average in most games, but slumping for most of a game once in a while like on long road trips... or against bad teams he tends to not put as much effort for some stupid reason, and sadly that's been a team-wide issue too.

Don't get me wrong, he's obviously not top-tier by any means, but he's solid now and a hell of a lot better than he was when he was like 19-22 years old and one of the top 10 worst easily.

Actually now that I'm looking at the stats, they're showing Lavine still in the bottom 5 in most defensive stats. Granted, I rarely ever get a chance to see the Bulls play. But is there an explanation for that? I can't speak on the matter but I'm gonna assume that his eye test is better than the stats would suggest?

You should ask yourself that question because if you watch Lavine this season you would know that any difference in terms of defence with the other players is insignificant. And offensively hes better.
