Republicans only care about the deficit when a Democrat is in office. As soon as a Republican is in the WH, deficit talk goes out the window. Fact is that in the last 40yrs going back to & including Reagan, the deficit has always come down under Democrat president and gone up under Republican president. I think the only exception might be Obama's first year of his first term while under Bush's final budget.

that's really all the bill should be. $2,000 stimulus checks, $ for vaccines, and small business loans (IF more is needed since december's program). THAT'S how you achieve bipartisanship - by going big in the smallest way possible. but instead it's all bullshit... it's all politics and optics.

i still can't believe dems are trying to justify the $600 + $1,400 to equal a total of $2,000 after that was the key component for their win in georgia. by the time americans get these checks it will have been three or four months since the $600 from a DIFFERENT administration.

think about it. out of EVERYTHING that can be cut in this bill, they're fighting over "further targetting" the stimulus checks. what a joke. but go ahead dems. keep shooting yourselves in the foot.

I can't believe Democrats or Republicans haven't figured out how to bring forth a viable bill with only money that comes directly to us instead of all the fat and behind closed doors handshake deals included in all these stimulus packages. If I was a politician from either party who wanted to be elected, I'd be screaming at the top of my lungs. "Ok, I'll vote to pass your stimulus package in the trillions but I want every American to get $10000 dollars! Not $600, not $1400, not $2000!"

Who’s gonna stock shelves at Walmart for 11 bucks an hour when they just got a 10k check in the mail? People will just live off their stimulus til it runs out. Then suddenly we have no cashiers, no restaurant cooks, no uber drivers, no Amazon warehouse team members etc.

Altho if you wanted to round up all the illegal immigrants itd be a good way to find em, cuz theyd be the only ones still working :lol

Absolutely. These public Congressional “debates” about the stimulus are little more than tabloid theater. These people do not care about serving the public, theyre in it to keep their prestigious legislative positions, which means making the donors happy with their actions, while making “the base” happy with words. Decisions on spending are made by bankers and prominent power brokers, Congress are just the dancing puppets who pulls the strings, and pretend to disagree with each other to keep the simpletons distracted. Nancy Pelosi and Bernie Sanders dont give any more of a **** about people getting a dime than Mitch McConnell cares about deficits and debts. Theyre all eating good, and nobody in the public is gonna do a damn thing about it but bitch on the internet, or maybe join a meaningless “protest march” in the street.

These people thrive on the apathy and stupidity of the public, and theyre in luck because theres a nearly limitless supply of it.
