These players need an alpha leader.

"I don't really see us having a head coach," Irving said when appearing on Kevin Durant's new podcast The ETCs. "You know what I mean? KD could be a head coach. I could be a head coach."

It's actually pretty good coaching. The head coach can only try to tell them what needs to be done. It's up to them if they want to commit to defense and look into what's wrong with the team and sacrifice.

For a team with 3 superstar vets and a young head coach like Nets, this is the most correct approach. I believe they will continue to struggle a bit in the regular season and be a much better team come playoff time.

If they manage to fukk up at the end of this season, nash will be screwed. He should be doing better than how ty lue did with the cavaliers.

Clearly Nash has a super easy job orchestrating the team with a head case like this being on it.

I agree with your first part. I am not so sure whether they will turn it up in the postseason.

Nash is not aware that they've already decided.

It's actually not Nash's fault - it is the fault of whoever decided that it was a good idea to sign Kyrie Irving.

Dude should shut up and dribble or something. Overhyped D'antoni system product. He was never better than his Dallas version. That's the real him. How i always viewed him.

I do think Nash could have been a good coach, but this was a terrible den of wolves to throw him in as his first gig. He should have gotten some much needed assistant coaching experience first, or AT LEAST if he was going to make the jump straight to head coach he should have coached a young team with easy going guys who don't have massive egos and actually give a shit about defense even half as much as they do about putting up big numbers on offense.

I honestly thought this "big 3" was a terrible idea to begin with and would get exposed, and that had little to nothing to do with Nash being the coach. Brooklyn traded pretty much all of their great depth and scrappy players/good defenders, traded their well balanced roster in general to get 3 guys who demand the ball in their hands as much as possible, who don't care about playing a lick of defense, have massive egos. One of which is just ****ing stupid as shit and makes questionable decisions both on and off the court. Another who is lazy and getting overweight(and has always been a bit overrated as an offensive player anyways because he's the league's biggest flopper who gets to the FT line every 2 seconds off BS calls that shouldn't go his way if the refs didn't suck a fat dick). The other of the 3 legitimately is a great player in my eyes, but is injury prone af, and can be a locker room cancer at times due to his lack of a positive leadership energy.

All 3 of them are lacking true positive leadership/role model qualities. And I can only imagine how annoying it is for the role players on the team who have to play with these 3 egotistical ballhogs who have the physical tools to play solid enough defense to get the job done but don't care enough to do it most of the time as if their offensive talents excuse them from that responsibility. I can only imagine how toxic that locker room is... and Nash is too much of an easy going nice guy, and too new to coaching, to be leading a team like that. There are very few coaches ever who I believe could lead a team like that well.

Eh, Nash never came across as someone who would be a good coach. Doesn't come from a good pedigree, his best numbers came under Pringles...

IMO you pretty much need a hard headed son of a bitch asshole head coach who can overpower their egos and keep them in check, and have the nuts to DEMAND them to do their job and play together better including on defense. If only they could get Bill Belichick to switch over from the NFL, he'd be one of the best candidates for that job lol. Or Bruce Arians.

Belichick wouldn't work on a lot of teams in the NBA though, no sport out there like the NBA where players have so much power to just fire coaches because they don't like them.

Maybe, but as a Suns fan he was always known as a player coach under D'Antoni, always on the sidelines telling other players what they need to do... damn near almost as much of a coach for us as Pringles was. I think if put in the right situation he could be at least decent. In terms of X's and O's he could be great, he has the true bball playmaking mind for it. And early on in his coaching career he should have been a good candidate for developing a young team with low expectations to have a good culture with positive energy and unselfish play-making, then with years of coaching experience he could try to take on tougher tasks.

But like I said before, this coaching job was like putting him in the den of hungry wolves. This job might be the most difficult NBA coaching job I've seen in decades, and required a hard headed coach with potentially DECADES of coaching experience to deal with the toxic culture of having 3 toxic egotistical stars on the same team like that. Idk what they were thinking hiring Nash for that. They like... needed to somehow steal Popovic from the Spurs or something. Or get someone great to come out of retirement to take on that job. idk :confusedshrug:
