View Full Version : Why are media awards biased against great teams?

Despite the Jazz leading the league, the media doesn't recognize an MVP candidate on their team. Despite the Warriors being the greatest team of all-time the media didn't recognize a player on that team as MVP.

Are MVP awards slanted towards players on teams with mediocre team play?

You have to be number one or number two seed to win NBA league MVP.

Right now its Lakers/Jazz/Sixers/Bucks.

It would have been useful if you indicated which teams they played for during those seasons.

Probably because nobody on the team statistically has a case for MVP over someone like LeBron or Embiid

Who would win MVP on the Jazz? Donovan Mitchell? Give me a break. Rudy Gobert? Please.

They're a good team but nobody stands out on an MVP level. Their lack of that MVP guy is what they're going to be missing in the playoffs.

Steph and KD cancelled eachother out. They were two recent MVPs on the same team together and how could anyone determine which one was most valuable?

By your logic Detroit in 2004, San Antonio in 2014 had no chance of winning

Because leading the league and MVP are a different thing.

No one said they would win it. Conley and Gobert should be mentioned.

No. They shouldn’t. Borderline 2015 Hawks situation. Nobody on that team should get a single vote. Not even 5th place.

Jokic might come in 5th or 6th doing 27/11/9. A great record with an obvious ensemble cast doesn’t offset legendary seasons. Especially not when some have legendary seasons and a great record.

Imagine Jokic coming in under Gobert, Conley, Mitchell. That was would cringe worthy.

MVP isn't all NBA or all star. If Beal was so great don't you think Washington would win a game occasionally? 6 wins. How many do they have without Beal.
