I'm curious how common it is for a last place team to make the playoffs the next year. Anyone know?
Heat 2007 - 2008 finished last with 15-67 record, and made playoffs the next year.

Seems the Milwaukee Bucks in 2014 to 2015 also went from last to playoffs.
Nuggets 2003 to 2004 too.

much respect to 2nd overall pick James Wiseman for turning Warriors 15th rank to a respectable 8th seed. making a strong case for ROTY after tanking the previous year due to Klays injury

1978-1979 Celtrics: Second worst team out of 22 in the NBA.
1979-1980: Best team in the NBA 61-21
(Yes, Bird was that good).

I believe kelly oubre jr. has a respectable case too. While often clumsy with his layups and jumpshots that screams he'll never ever become klay thompson, his team currently has an undefeated record in rare occasions at which he was able to outscore his team's first scoring option. At least it is better than nothing at all and if steve kerr is somehow able to lead this average roster to a postseason appearance three months later, mostly his career as head coach will not be put to jeopardy yet.

Memphis Grizzlies had a worse record in the 2007 season.
