The global climate is like the NBA league average PPG over an 80 game season. The global climate numbers are going up when you span since weather data has been recorded as well as looking at past climate numbers which we can understand from tree rings, pollen, ice cores etc.

-help setup food banks, maybe a call-line
-call fellow legislature and be in constant contact with the White House, which Senators have direct connection to
-coordinate with various agencies like FEMA, Army Corps of Engineer if you need some expertise/manpower
-reach out to your community. Provide some support to your constituents who you represent & voted for you to your current post.

He has many offices across Texas from what I heard. Yes, the staff is already doing those things but it's different when the head honcho is making rounds through his offices throughout the day & being accessible rather than being off to another country on vacation right when the sh!t hits the fan.

The governor doesn't have direct access to all those congress people like a full-fledged senator, who has worked with senators/house for many many years. He is very savvy politician and using people to his benefit.

Yoyr senators can’t just individually tap federal funds to send to Austin or whatever. The president and governor have to do that. The governor unlocks certain funds by declaring a state of emergency and the president unlocks more from fema by declaring it a major emergency which lifts the original federal cap.

The senate doesn’t vote to release funds. It’s taken out of the legislative hands for good reason.....speed. Some jackass would attach a poison pill about abortion or getting his unaffected home state a soybean study or something stupid trying to get the entire chamber to vote for it with the emergency funding because Texas will die without it.

You get the politics out by leaving it out of congress.

Congress can direct funding with say.....relief bills...and to do that....and have direct access to the voting members who have to let that happen....he has to do his job....in gotdamn DC.

There are some things you can do by proxy but the final vote? As I understand it....you have to be there. They didn’t even change the rules for covid. Just made floor votes social distanced. The entire senate doesn’t have to be there to hold a vote....but you need to be there to vote. And in a close vote like covid relief(where the new money for Texas actually is and will be voted on in the house next week) every vote counts. Now....if every democrat wants it and attends the vote it won’t matter. In that case he’s not needed there with the democrats one vote majority....at least once it reaches the floor. And for various reasons it may or may not.

im not certain if it’s something they can rig past the 60 vote rule or not but either way...the people making it all work aren’t in Texas.....they’re in gotdamn DC.
