It's between Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket. I felt like Full Metal Jacket was essentially 2 different movies - I liked both the first and 2nd half, but it just felt like too obvious of a split. I'm giving dibs to Apocalypse Now because of the storytelling aspect.

This. Same thing with Deer Hunter, felt like 2 separate films. Platoon is good too but Apocalypse is a masterpiece.

Honestly it’s been so long since I have seen those movies, it’s really difficult to say. They were all great movies and pretty similar in ranking for me. The movie Ive seen most recently was The Deer Hunter. The movie wasn’t what I was expecting. Like mentioned before it’s almost two separate movies and it can get pretty slow. It was very effective though with how it shows life before the War, then how life was after the war and how things will never be the same. Even if the survivors make it home they still carry the burden of what they saw and went through. I might pick Deer Hunter but I would have to rewatch the movies to make a real decision.

I believe it was called Red Dress (viet - hooker ) reels in a GI and was actually a love story --- it was made sometime in the 70's if I recall.
