View Full Version : How will Lowry on the 76ers shape the Championship Picture?

The Lowry homecoming talk is getting louder and louder. Especially since last night's game where the limits of the Philadelphia bench has become more apparent than ever.

Embiid playing like the clear MVP and Simmons even hitting clutch Three still couldn't get an absent Tobias Harris Sixers' team to a win over the Cavs.

Lowry has essential said he welcomes and trade home to Philly and the Raptors have stated they are willing to reward him with a trade to a contender.

The simple hard truth is the Sixers are a very good team, but their ultimate dependence on Harris/Simmons/Embiid proves that they are probably not a contender right now.

Getting a deal to actually acquire Lowry may be a diffcult task but Morey has expertise in these sort of deals.

Does Kyle Lowry on the 76ers make them the clear cut favs for the East and a true contender for the Championship?

No but it will help. The Nets are so loaded I wouldn't call anyone else a clear cut favorite.

Imagine thinking Kyle Lowry would make the Sixers clear cut favorites over KD, Harden, and Kyrie.

Lowry would surely help. He is making 30.5. Philly has 4 expiring deals totaling roughly 26. It's doable.

not clear cut favorites but they have a chance vs bkn which really matters, lowry's 2 way play is very valuable.. my 3 favorites in the league would be lakers, bkn, and philly. i dont think any other team can beat bkn which is my benchmark right now. clippers/bucks could beat la or philly but i dont think they have a chance vs bkn

Any deal would would essentially involve Danny Green.

Starting lineup would probably be:

Embiid
Harris
Simmons
Lowry
Curry

Playoff bench:

Shake
Korkmaz
Thybulle
Dwight

I assume (and hope) Morey acquires another a couple more players as the Lowry makes them team more playoff suited, but the bench (despite shortening minutes) still look thin.

The need a stretch 5 type as a alternative back up to Dwight.

They already have. Bradley can stretch the floor

It would make their window better.

Hoping for someone that is more of a threat than Bradley. Nobody is really fearing him beyond the perimeter.

Doc doesn't have much faith in him right now. He won't be getting any playoff minutes.

He would make them extremely tough. I don't see how they get him though. Toronto has not given up on the season and most teams wouldn't want to trade such a key guy within the division and have to face him 4 times a year plus possibly the playoffs. So the price tag will be hefty and Ujiri is one of the best GMs in the league he's not getting suckered. I don't see a trade happening at all really but the price might be Tobias Harris? And would likely require a third team.

Adding Lowry isn't going to change the fact that Embiid is soft and Simmons doesn't know how to shot.

Nah you ain't getting him. You would have to sacrifice Harris and Seth for that. I am sure Seth won't mind because his dad is a former Raptor.

he would fit well but his team already said there isn't any real traction to the sixers rumor

IMO lowry would make the clippers a title favorite because they already have chemistry with kawhi and ibaka and PG is balling this season. they're all great defenders too so that team would be hard to score on. I'd take them over the nets if they dont give up any core pieces.
