If you dropped Bradley Beal off in the 80's with his same exact skillset, shooting range, and shooting ability (with his same head coach and offensive system) Would he be the best offensive player in the league?

This thread is gonna to expose A LOT of people...

Would that mean he gets to be hit by bigs on the drive in? Or be handchecked? And the referee will allow his jumpshots to be contested more tjan they do now with more contact?

Would that mean his coaches will not understand his style of play and bench him for taking too many 3s outside of set play? Does that mean he gets called for carrygin the ball and travelling for unfamiliar dribbling? He wont have spacing. His teammates wont have range.

Beal is doing his damage taking it to the rim. His 3% is actually the lowest of his career.

Taking it to the basket was tougher then so no he wouldn't be leading the league in scoring in the 80s.

I have to give him credit for improving so much. Compared to his 3rd season he looks like a completely different player. After watching his first 3 seasons I could never see him getting to this level.

Beal would be unstoppable in the 80's because of his shooting.

Seriously, there are a bunch of modern stars that would totally dominate the 80s. Even sidekicks and third bananas.

3Ball, this is your last chance. After this thread, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill, the story ends. You go back to living in a misty fog, where you actually believe that professional basketball peaked 5 decades ago in the 1980s

or you take the red pill.In which you finally see the world for what it is.Where even moderate stars of today's games are astronomically better than the best players of the 80s.

Remember 3 ball, before you choose that all i am offering to you is the truth.....nothing more. You will live with the decision you make for the rest of your life on ish.

Beal is shooting 33.8% from 3 this season, 35.3% last season.

Would he? Let's just say if you altered the timeline and made that happen there would suddenly be a 4000 ft marble statue of him in Washington with a pose similar to the Colossus of Rhodes except with a gargantuan phallus serving as a canopy for the National Mall.

More dynamic shooters in MJ's era means more likelihood they get paired up like in Golden State. Look how badly Bulls struggled against Reggie Miller's Pacers.

He was at like 40% for his career until he increased his volume and workload and started to ISO more. He’s clearly a great shooter lol

For his career he shoots 37.7% from 3 (on 6 attempts per game), 81.6% from the foul line. Good not great. Only 3 of his 9 seasons have been over 40%, barely.

Please. No one wanted any of Mugsy. LeKaren would have a temper tantrum to the refs and demand an automatic ejection to a play like that.

Somehow I dont doubt that mugsy would have done the same to Lebron, or worse. Dont forget that Nate Robinson blocked Lebron's dunk and Lebron could not even backup JJ Barea.

He's not even a particularly "new school" style player imo. He's a physical attacking scoring guard who takes contact and takes shots off the dribble. The % of his shots that are from 3 is not very high for lead guards right now (though it would be high in the 80's). I think he'd fit right in and be one of the top players.

Several players per game would get ejected for the constant bitching and whining over "too much contact" due to handchecking.

MJ would be the best offensive player. Beal's shooting ability from deep would be better than MJ. BUT MJ was more physically dominant AND better scoring inside the three point line than Beal. Beal has a total package scoring skillset too. BUT MJ has THE BEST scoring skillset ever inside the three point line. I'm talking the blend of slashing, midrange, post-up, footwork, and efficiency as a package. And MJ is a better passer as well. Even though Beal is a great passing SG himself. In terms of overall offensive skill though, he would only be behind MJ at the SG spot in that era. And in terms of who is the best SG in general in that era, he would be top 3 with MJ and Drexler. He would SUPERCEDE Miller, Dumars, Mitch, Harper, etc. in that era.

If you consider Harden a PG, Beal is arguably the best SG in the league right now. The position is starting to get very deep again with Kyrie (if he's considered a SG now),PG, Book, Mitchell, CJ, Lavine, etc. And of course Klay would be near the top, but we gotta see how he comes back from injury. So for Beal to be arguably the best, that's saying a lot. And SKILL FOR SKILL on both sides of the rock, he's up there with PG as the best as well!

Lol, nope. They'd adjust.
Streetball people handcheck today and you're a bitch if you call foul. We can adjust.

I swear handchecking is the most overrated 80s 90s excuse. Did any of you play in the 90s?
