The Bulls were averaging only about 11,000 fans per game in Chicago, and the Kings desperately needed a marquee player in Los Angeles. Lakers owner Jack Cooke had an idea He would trade superstar Chamberlain to the Bulls for free and Bobby Hull would join the Kings. That would help both teams and both leagues.
At the timing of the alleged deal, the Bulls were part of the NBA's Western Conference and in a strange twist of fate, the 72-73 team was matched up against Wilt and the Lakers in the first round of the 1973 playoffs. Chicago was eliminated in 7 games while Wilt led Los Angeles to the finals where they were defeated by the Knicks in 5 games.
Had the alleged trade ever been made Wilt would have teamed up with Bob love, norm van leer, Chet Walker and Jerry Sloan to complete a disgusting defensive team that would have dominated the Nba from 1973 to 1975 much as the Bulls did from 1996 to 1998 with Jordan.
Wilt would have almost certainly led the Bulls to the finals in 1973 and defeated the Knicks giving Wilt an additional ring and finals Mvp furthermore despite being in his mid-30s at the time Wilt was still playing at a high level and may have even been able to lead the Bulls to their first three-peat decades before that actually became a reality from 1973 to 1975.
If this trade had actually gone down in 1972 then it is very likely Wilt ends his career in 1975 with 5 rings and 5 finals Mvp to his name along with a four-peat from 1972 to 1975.
Changing the goat debate forever as if Wilt had won on three different teams and also had 5 rings and 5 Finals Mvp's to go along with his many records and better longevity.
From that point on the only player that could seriously challenge him for the goat title is Jordan and Lebron as he now would be unanimously ranked over Kareem who's era he would have dominated by four peating as an old man from 1972 to 1975 with two different teams to boot.
