I miss the threads about Kobe. One of the greatest of all time no question in my mind. Among the very top at hardest working, and an extremely intelligent player as well. A superlative athlete in his younger years as well. Ungaurdable with how much skill he had at scoring. Where do you guys rank him all time and why?

Olajuwon, kobe, duncan to me are interchangeable at #9-11 all time.

I rate by position and as far as players that primarily were shooting guards go I'd have to say:
MJ
Kobe
West / Wade
If we lump all guards together
MJ
Kobe / Magic
West / Wade / Robertson
Curry is of course building his case for consideration among the top but I don't think he'll reach Kobe levels on my list

You are delusional if you think Kobe is at Magic's tier, hes on Oscar's tier at best.

You are delusional if you think Kobe is at Magic's tier, hes at least 2 tiers below.
Well then I guess I'm delusional because I don't have any problem putting him on Magic's tier - both for different reasons. Prime Kobe could play elite on both ends of the ball and had as high an impact in his prime as almost anyone - mostly from scoring mixed with an elite blend of all around abilities. Magic was the best open court facilitating player ever and as dominant a mismatch at guard as anyone - who could score pretty damn good too if he wasn't looking to pass first. Both were either the main reason or extremely crucial to their teams winning 5.

Magic is consensus top 5 all time, Kobe is #12. Theres definitely a tier between Magic and Kobe, yes you are delusional if you think Kobe is anywhere close to Magic. As all-time Laker, its comparable 'cause Kobe spent more years with Lakers. But on all-time NBA, not even close. Overrating Kobe on the tier of Magic, is no different from overrating Lebron on the tier of MJ.
And nope Kobe was not anywhere near extremely crucial in the 2000 title run, he averaged 15ppg on 36% FG and could be replaced with the likes of Jerry Stackhouse and the Lakers still won. It was Shaq's one man show that year, Kobe only stepped up since 2001. Magic was absolutely crucial in all 5 championships of the Show time Lakers, Kobe was at most in 4 of his Lakers title runs.

I hated on him because he used to shit on us like it was his full-time job (it was)
there hasnt been a player NEARLY as fun to root against since kobe.
curry is a bitch and so are kd and kawhi, so there you go.
you can call kobe anything but you cant say he was a bitch.

If Kawhi was a bitch, he would of joined the bitch LeBron on the Lakers. People forget that LeBron was begging Kawhi to join lakers while Kawhi was still on Raptors.
Kawhi just didn't want to carry Trashcal Siakam for the rest of his life and didn't want to play for the rebuilding spurs, perfectly reasonable.

I usually have him around #10 but I've seen convincing arguments for as high as #5 or so.

kawhi is a bitch. i dont mean that is shook - he's just not a true GOAT.
he's fearless but he's not a leader. zero social skills - if he had any leadership skills whatsoever the clippers win the ring last year GUARANTEED. they had a squad that could ball.
watch them suddenly win if they get lowry aka a REAL leader that would hold paul george accountable if he's choking his team out of the series.
kawhi could win 6 more rings and I'd still rank kobe above him

He's on the third tier. Note that there is no "order" for players in the same tier.
Tier 1: MJ
Tier 2: Lebron, Kareem
Tier 3: Wilt, Magic, Shaq, Kobe
Tier 4: Bird, Duncan, Hakeem, Bill Russell

I would move Bird to tier 3 other than that I pretty much agree with this

Now, he's in a worse position, having to carry Paul George and Company until his contract ends.

There were about 15 absolutely top tier players in this league that stood above others. Getting those players = wins for their teams. A lot of other players were great, but not necessarily great enough to take their teams to the absolute top of the league multiple times.
Kobe is definitely one of those 15, though I'm not sure at exactly what position. He won 5 rings and was instrumental for at least 4 of them.
