View Full Version : With Durant ailing the Nets are not a lock.

Sixers with Embiid and Simmons and Bucks with Giannis and co can easily match up with these guys when the 3 ball stops dropping at insane levels and defense is at a premium.
Nets are NOT a LOCK.

The Nets are not a lock even if he is healthy.
The Nets experiment is like the Rockets experiment with Harden and Westbrook, except even more volatile.

Volatile in a good way.
I see MIL beating them in a old west shootout.
That series would be an extreme version of SAS v. PHX in the mid 00‘s.

I fear that Durant already played the last game of the season for us. The signing of Blake Griffin makes more sense in the case of a season ending injury of KD, and the fact that the team has been non-transparent about the status update of his injury is extremely worrisome. Perhaps they are just trying to not let the team down morally while maintaining as a favorite landing spot for FA/buy-out players. But either way it won’t surprise me if he’s not playing anymore until next year.

Out for season with a 2 week hamstring injury? That would be odd. He has already missed like half of Nets games.

lol Durant isn't "ailing". He's perfectly fine. The nets are just being gingerly with him as it's the regular season and they know they don't need him now. If this was playoff basketball he'd be playing.

Harden and Kyrie is still a sick combo. It's basically like Magic and Diet Kobe. There's only one ball after all. Prime Harden has never played with anyone remotely as good as Kyrie except Chris Paul, who he almost beat the peak Dynasty dubs with. Except he fits much better because he is true scorer over passer, and can ice games turn up the notch where as Paul preferred to pass. (but could get an obvious bucket... he just doesn't have Kyrie's scoring ceiling which is GOAT for point guard position)

This is why this feels so weird, a hamstring injury shouldn’t have kept him out for so long. There not even a timeline for him resuming practice and return, everything is so fishy and I feel that they are hiding something.

They could be hiding something. His timeline was 2 games then back before the All-Star break, then after now he's having scans next week. Yea I'd be a bit worried... Not super worried but worried. He might have had or could have a hamstring tear.

Hamstring injuries are notorious for being lingering and nagging. Why waste his meter on pointless regular season games when Harden could get you 50 wins with 4 scrubs and you throw Kyrie into the mix another 5-10 wins and a high seed. Just rest KD for the playoffs.

This just seems like it's been proven utterly wrong so far lol. Harden and Kyrie have been a ridiculous duo so far. Their defense was becoming solid before Claxton started playing, and now that Claxton is playing and showing that he's a very good defender, and with their ability to still add at least one or two other defensive players, this team with just Harden and Kyrie should be finals bound. Harden and Kyrie are a very good fitting duo. They are both elite shooters, both can get wherever they want whenever they want and you can't double either because they will spot the open man for a shot, or, nearly as likely, kick it out to one of the two other shooters or cutters or lob threats on the team. Kyrie's got no problem playing off ball. He's arguably having his best season. He can play on and off ball, unlike Westbrook, and he's probably one of the best all-around shooters ever. His turnover rate is very low and he's one of the clutchest players in the league. Literally couldn't be more different.

I'm not keen on betting against the nets but I believe Philly has as good a chance as anyone

Excellent responses and talking points in these replies. Who said ISH was dead? Thanks.
The Nets seem to be playing it safe with Durant. Due to his history of leg issues I think the Nets are indeed playing it safe with Durant. Especially with the Nets thriving as a duo. To bring back Durant early and risk aggravating his injury would be foolish but it does signal warning signs to the league that Durant is not 100% healthy and the possible risk of him being unreliable, especially during the more physical playoffs, could be a factor.

Two more trolls eliminated.
Smoke has always been a low trash poster, no surprise there.
LoneyROY I thought used to be cool, we had some moments where we would talk about Harden back in the Houston days, sucks to see him devolve into a troll. Obviously has issues with vag inas. Sorry dude. Whatever. Bye losers.

Irving had weird mental issues going on but him and Harden are death in the D'Antoni system. They're the favorites until we see AD healthy.

A team made up of mostly injury prone stars? Ok, I'm sure that will work fine.

They're clearly just taking it easy with KD for the regular season. The playoffs are all that matters.
I still take Philly over them this year though.

If it's just Harden and Kyrie, though, I'm betting on the rest of the east or the Lakers. With a healthy Durant, I'd like the Lakers to pick up a bit more at the trade deadline.

Ya brah, Nets were a very real playoff team last year that added Durant, Harden, Blake and Kyrie. and Doc, and Nash.
Many timid Kobe/MJ stans still don't want to bite down yet and slip like they did last year with their Clippers and their 2019 Dubs. I believe Tpols and BigBob have made the official "us" when referring to his Brooklyn Nets team and typing in 3rd person. Big move

Bucks are the only hope in the East.
BKN will just outscore everyone else.
Ive seen both Middleton and Jrue Holliday play superstar offensive level for entire series.
KD is weak to defenders like Jrue and Donte. Harden has a hard time with good drop bigs like Giannis and Lopez.
It can happen.
But Kyrie could just overwhelm a team with his shotmaking.
Lol, I’m gonna be sick if this team pulls this off. It’ll give PPG lovers 20 more years of stupid to work with.
I'm rocking with the bucks and sixes Eastern conference this year
let's get it
