Talk about being elite on both ends

Kobe did it twice
Lebron none, zero

MJ? Nine times scoring champ and 1st team defense

Goat gonna goat

West did it too. Regardless Kobe was a worse defender those years than many scoring champs who didn't get an All-Defensive First nod (Kareem, Robinson, Shaq, Wade, Wilt if the award existed)

LeBron almost accomplished this in 2010. Iirc KD edged him for the scoring title on the last game of the regular season.

Kobe was no longer an elite defender when he was scoring champion, according to Phil Jackson:

"Kobe's defense, to be accurate, has faltered in recent years, despite his presence on the league's all-defensive team. The voters have been seduced by his remarkable athleticism and spectacular steals, but he hasn't played sound, fundamental defense. Mesmerized by the ball, he's gambled too frequently, forcing rotations that leave a man wide open, and doesn't keep his feet on the ground."

White people like curry , Michael porter jr, tyler Herro, zach lavine and good defense shouldn't be used together. Only good at popping mollies, playing with their wee wee , throwing mouthpieces into stands like cowards they are and killing unarmed black men. Crackas like curry scared to face black men

Yeah, this pretty much means absolutely nothing. Even the Kobe stans know he didn't play any defense in 2006. Frankly, he didn't even deserve half of the all defensive nods he had as he was pretty lazy in the regular season defensively once he decided he wanted to score 30ppg. Kobe peaked defensively for a season very early in 2000. That's when he actually put the effort game in game out. After that season he was more interested in scoring points and not stopping points being scored. I will admit he played better defense in the playoffs, but you don't get all defensive nods based on the playoffs. The coaches seem to just pencil in the same guys as they don't care a lot of the time. That's the only thing I can think of as Kobe was clearly not playing all nba defense through most of his career during the regular season. Even worse, he was being put on the team over someone like Wade who was playing much more consistent defense during his prime, but was delegated to the 2nd team or not making it at all. It was a complete joke. It's also insulting to someone like Scottie Pippen, who never took a game off in his career defensively, when a guy who was barely playing any defense throughout most of the long season is making more teams than him.

It seems he is good at defending role players
