"Curry held up pretty well against even the game's best iso scorer like Kyrie or Harden"
"Curry is a physical, active, pesky defender with great reaction time and anticipation"
Seems like he's always portrayed as a bad defender. Who knew.
Well, his defensive prowess allowed kyrie to play like an mvp during 2016 finals. Plus, he let a role player like fred vanvleet flourish in 2019 finals. That's always kinda good if anyone is rooting against them.
He shutdown Lebron in the 4th quarters of 2018 Finals. He was able to do that because he has Russell Westbrook's strength but lacks athleticism to showcase it.
If anything, curry had a lot of big help in that finals. That's in contrast to king kong bran, who still proved himself to be the ultimate carrying machine during that time.

iggy, livingston and klay took on the hard perimeter assignments. with them gone stephen curry made taylor horton tucker and caldwell pope look like HOF'rs on national tv. that pesky stephen defense holding Lakers to 65%fg for the game :ohwell:

The result? A 31-point blowout loss for the warriors. :(
Still the effort was kinda impressive tho to say the least.

I forgot he also shutdown Westbrook. That's the two strongest and most athletic players in NBA that he's shutdown (Lebron in 2018 Finals and Westbrook in 2016 WCF). Like I said he's able to do that because he's equally as strong as them while having quicker reflexes.

Simply not true. He is very inconsistent on defense to the point where you can justifiably call him bad.
He can have good possessions like any other bad defender (e.g. Kevin Love and "The Stop"), but that's not what good defense is about. Good defense is about consistency.

With the way he plays, Steph has trouble defending because he conserves too much of his energy for offense running around all those screens.
although I think it's easily palpable at this point

in hand with that, Curry doesn't block, rush or otherwise alter many shots, although he's been doing better defensive board work of late
